HELP!!! broken turbine tip

Well just when i thought removing my hotside was going fine...the wheel broke a tip as i was pulling the hotside/o2 housing out of the engine bay.

can anyone please look at the attached picture and tell me if it's still safe to run?? i realize that wheel imbalance can kill a turbo quickly. i was going to upgrade the turbo, but actually im pulling the manifold/hotside for porting before saving the dough and going green.

anyone?

(notice the broken tip on the left side of the wheel in the picture)

I doubt that will work man. I had very minor fin damage to a turbo like that, and it would not even spool at all!

I would try to clip the equal size to all the fins to balance. you would get a slow spooling turbo but it might give you better high end in theory.

no offence but that sounds like a terrible idea

um no no no no, there is no way you can accurately do that.

send the turbo out to be rebuilt if you dont wanna do the green yet.

forced performance should be able to rebuild it, or you can send it out to deadbolt for the rebuild

search in the how to's its really easy to remove the turbo, easier if you remove the radiator so you dont damage that too

yeah i'm searching the how/to's but there's no turbo removal. i'm leaving the parts out of the engine bay, but now i just need to figure out whats left.

heres my guess so far:

drain / remove radiator
drain oil and disconnect oil feed line

Don't have to drain oil.
Remove intake, downpipe, LICP, undo water and oil lines, undo manifold and pull it out.

I have experience with stuff like this. Both compressor and turbine size mishaps. that damage is small. I would use small die grinder with small cutoff wheel. remove an equal amount from the opposing blade only. it will work fine and not cause any performance loss whatsoever.
