I have a clamped hose?

I have a hose that's clamped, since I bought it. I don't know what it is or what it does, but it doesn't look right. I can't straighten it out either, without bending metal. Can anyone tell me what it is, and if it's normal?

That is not normal. That's the hose that actuates your BOV. That kink will keep your BOV from working normally. Bring it back to the dealer, or better yet, just head down to the local Pep Boys and buy a one foot long vacuum hose and cut it to length. If I remember correctly, the i.d. is 5/16" .

Is it really serious? Should I not go above 3500rpms anymore til I get it fixed?

i just checked mine and it looks exactly the same as your picture.

Is the hose "crimped" around the bend?

It shouldn't be. The metal clamps are normal.

Yes it is serious if it is inhibiting the DV from opening.
It looks like the metal tube is bent to far to the right.
Anyone else want to verify this with me. Mine is not that far to the right and I've even moved it more to help line the hose up. The metal tube is bendable by hand, just take it slow and easy.

Some monkey turd at the dealership probably leaned on it and bent it. I would take it back and show them before you do anything, that way they can straighten it out and if it breaks it won't cost you anything!

I checked mine last night, and it looks fine. The hose has a normal, gentle bend in it without any kinks. I think that on Thoe99's Evo the metal tube has been pushed or bent too far to the right.

I don't think it's the dealer -- mine is similar (May 2003 production). The pipe is just too long for where the hose connects.

But it looks worse than it is. The hose is stretched to fit over the pipe, and part of the curve is hidden by the larger sleeve.

But it still seems like a fairly extreme bend for a hose. Is this a vacuum line or a pressure line? It's a pretty thin hose, so it would probably suck flat under vacuum. But it might inflate a bit under pressure (like the Atlas rocket), which might take some of the kink out. (Not that I'm entirely opposed to kink. )

Hmm...mine's an April 2003 build. I didn't know these little kinks would differ this much between the same cars.

might try feeding more hose onto the metal pipe to take some of the slack out and give the pipe a slow and gentle bend towards the passenger side.

When I was putting my gauge kit in I noticed mine was a bit tight in that area, but not pinched like that. I was able to release the tension by moving the protective hose down some.

the position and length of the metal tube is correct.. its the insulation foam part that is too high up on the tube. if you slide the "fat" piece of foam down it'll give the tube more flexibility..and it won't kink!! come on guys... what's wrong with you all..
