What's this clicking noise?

When I cut the ignition and after the engine has stopped I hear a clicking noise, probably about four to five clicks. Feels like it's coming from right in front of the driver's seat. I really want to say it's the fuel or water pump. Not a big deal. Well now since winter, if I'm very low on rpms, say around 1k-2k rpm, and I gas it I hear the clicking noise continuously until I'm at around 3k rpm. After that it's gone.

I autox this car a lot, did four track days last year. Right now I have just over 20k miles on the engine. Engine oil changes done every 3k miles, some every 2k depending on how often I've raced. Coolant hasn't been changed yet.

What could it be?
