BOV questions- opinions on Greddy Type S

Ok guys. I've had my evo for about a week and have been having a bit of trouble with some compressor surge. I did some research and eventually did the 1 spring mod on my Greddy Type S BOV. It helped it, but still having problems. Idk if its the BOV but seriously, why in the world would you have to do a mod on an aftermarket BOV unless there is serious design flaws. I'm seriously convinced this thing is just garbage and i should get an HKS. What do guys with more experience than me think about this. Greddy type S = garbage?

get the "LSK" valve/kit from this website & use it along with the lower port on the type-S & you will not have any compressor surge & will have zero leakage with high boost

Compressor surge? I think not, valve flutter maybe, the GReddy S is a pretty good valve except for the weak diaphragm. How much pre-load do you have on the spring?

That is sooo true!!!!

I had the Type S for years. It was GREAT to me. It did suck though when I went to a bigger turbo (35R) IT held 30psi of boost but it couldnt let it out fast enough. It was too small. I needed to get a TYPE R

..my post and answer my question then. pretty much no matter what valve you run you can make the car do as you describe but it's not compressor surge. how much preload do you have on the spring?

preload- i did the 1 spring mod and kept the larger spring in there and i have it loosened as much as possible while still holding boost

The HKS SSQ is probably the worst Bov for our cars Im discovering. The metal IX Bov seems to hold up better for stock turbo.
