greddy type-s bov problems.. fixed, now boosting 20lb to redline?!?

There are some older threads out there talking about typical problems with the greddy type-s bov.. one of the guys did some r&d and found out that hooking up the smaller nipple on the greddy type-s to the wastegate line would solve all of his problems, and it did. So here i am this morning, doing the same thing, once i get it installed, hooked up the the sensing line for the boost solenoid which goes directly to the wastegate, i take it out for a spin.. low and behold, it holds boost SOLID at 20lbs up to redline!! what the **** is up with that?? not that i mind, but does anybody have any idea why this would happen..?? by the way the idle problems are solved with the greddy type-s bov, works great, different sound though, not really sure if i like it.. thanks guys.

Do you mean that it's boosting 20psi to redline without a boost controller? Just trying to clarify, because if it is than why get a boost controller when you can just get the Greddy bov.

Seriously though is this with a boost controller?

Yea that is really wierd. Do you have a sound clip of the bov? If not I was wondering if you could compare it to other bov's. Thanks!

no i dont have any sound clips, but i really dig it, the only problem i have with it is when i am parking or in a situation where i have to blip the throttle and let off, it tends to bog after that.. which kinda pisses me off.

on your greddy type s do you meen that is all you used was the smaller nipple and not the large nipple or do you still use the the larger nipple and tee the wastgate line to the smaller nipple. i would like to know because i'm have a type s and i do have some small stalling issues and if that can be fixed and it'll run 20psi across the board that is just an extra bonus let me know (hell if i no)

Take the TYPE-S apart and remove the smaller spring.. This will fix your stalling from small blips of the throttle..

I am also running a type-s

all i did was run a vacuum line from the small nipple to the wastegate line.. which works good.. the only problem i ran into was the bov opening prematurely with an aftermarket boost controller due to pressure from the turbo being higher than pressure in the manifold.

Do u have the type-s recirculating or venting to the atmosphere....oh and by the way the spring mod is crap.......my valve would leak at high boost cause of that ....i have a boost control set at 20psi......i put the stock one back on and there you go more power....im planing on putting it back in recirculating but with both springs.....hopefully the 2 springs help.....plus with the one spring it sounds gay

recirculating.., it works much much better like that. And if you have problems with the compressor surge, try cycling the adjusting screw fully in, then back it out far enough to where it doesnt engage the spring anymore, and then screw it back in to the point where it just touches the spring, it works pretty good that way.

you wont be able to turn it with your fingers anymore, trust me you will feel it seat up against the spring.
