Chattering/Vibration

Here recently i've noticed what use to be a clear engine rev, now sounds like a very rapid chattering or vibration. When I rev up to about 4k, I hear it, but not below. Everything sounds pretty crisp up until that range...sounds like it's coming from the engine bay. When I was under the hood and revved it, it sounds like it was behind the motor and to the left...I know it's pretty vague, but any advice would be appreciated.

Have you added any mods since you last heard the clear engine rev?

It could be valve train noise or maybe a loose mount, but I cant be sure without a sound clip.

My Evo's started to make a similar noise, and its really annoying. It does it around 1600-1800RPMS, and again at 4krpms.

Just an air intake is my only mod. I've had the intake on for about a month now and didn't notice the noise till about a week ago. I gave the pipes a glance over and didn't see anything out of whack or popped off...i'll see if I can get a sound clip.

I'm thinking maybe my UICP is rubbing against my engine mount because it's pretty damn close...maybe an 8th of an inch...the LICP was rubbing against the outter wall, but I loosened it and pushed it in farther and gave it a little bit of clearance. Something might still be loose...I'll check tommorow when it's light out and I have the time to remove the bumper.

And yea, it's really annoying. But if it's a pipe rubbing, it could wear a hole in the pipe..which is very bad. So I want to find out what it is.

Thanks.
