Oildoc, wix lists the 57092 as the oil filter so thats the short fat one. Is this the preferred one over the long skinny one? I prefer having the clearance but is there any benefit to either one. Looking to change my oil filter soon to wix. Dont they filter down to 10 microns?

If you are talking "Absolute" 10 Micron, no... There is not a filter on the market capable of that. The AMSOIL EA Series is as close as you can get. It is conservatively rated at 15 Micron Absolute, but I have a customer that works for a company that tested the Media AMSOIL uses and he said that they are actually a 12 Micron, AMSOIL just uses a more conservative rating.

The 57092 is the proper filter listed for the EVO. The 51356 will also work and there is no benefir either way other than the 57092 is less expensive.

We have in the past recommended the WIX for cars with stock filtration that are being tracked regularly. This is actually being talked about internally at corporate. We just don't want an oil starvation problem.

I am in the process of rebuilding my web site and is far from being completed, but, if you want a peek at the filtration system we are offering, go to my link below, it should take you to one of the pages I am working on for the EVO. Down a ways on the left side I believe, is a pick of a filter system, BMK-13, that I am working on where you can get a 60 Micron Full Flow Filter to increase HP, and the other filter is about 1 Micron to keep your oil analytically clean.

But the WIX should technically be enough for daily driving and the occasional autoX? I would assume it should be a step up from the OEM ones I have been using. If you want PM the price of the EAO filter compared to say the Wix. I got a oil change coming up so I want to see if its worth the extra $$$

OEM filter. Why would you trust your engines vitals with a non-OEM part?

Why would you trust your engine vitals to a part that meets MINIMUM requirements and goes out to the lowest bidder every few years ?

So by your statement, your car is and always will be totally stock ?

The OEM's, whether Mits or any of the others, make decisions based on $$$$... and acceptable #s of possible warranty problems. If it will get the car out of warranty, do you think they really care... They look at a vehicle and say we can sell X number of these for this price, or we can sell x amount less because we will price ourselves out of a certain market.

If what the OEM built was so good, why would everyone be doing all the wok that they do to their vehicles ? All the Vendors here would be out of business.

^^Haha aint that the truth. It seems that this "myth" is going around that the OEM filter is so good but in reality its probably no better than a Fram filter
