1) they sounds sick at idle, almost muscle car like. drivabiltity is normal, it might have stalled once with the A/C on turning into a parking space
2)yes, stock valvetrain
3)I got some other stuff done at the same time, so i really cant say. ive heard anywhere from 20-40hp depending on tune
4) speeding tickets

Pretty much the same, idle is lopey, not sure on exact gains, but like he said should be between 20 and 40... I installed mine without adjustable cam gears, have heard that you can dial it in a little better at peak HP with those.

with the cams, boost at 20psi, and 3" tbe/ebay o2, jestr flash I made 325/325 on pump gas (dynojet) After replacing my sick plastic stock DV on C16 (custom tune)the car made 410 ft. lbs and 380 hp.... I have a cam gear sitting next to me and I might put that in on the intake cam side to trade some TQ. for HP, since I prefer drag racing over anything else.

Only issue was the the hole in the exhaust cam for the cam angle sensor, the hole is not deep enough, or threaded deep enough for the factory bolt to screw all the way in. You can try to fix the hole, cut the bolt to the right length.. or get crazy and put washers in to space it out LOL don't try this at home

You can hear the idle at the end..this was my old evo

Stock valve train and I was making 352whp at 23psi back then.

I have comp 272s in my sig. The lope can be tuned out to a good extent. Check out the "Lopey Idle" vid. I know you're looking for Comp 280s, but this is fairly close.

I have these cams. I hade none of the install issues that some people have had. Very lumpy at idle but I am running a stock maf and a vta bov and have no issues with the idle with stock cam gears. Simply up your idle to around 1k rpm's and add a little timing at idle. I went ahead and went with springs and retainers because I am going with a big turbo pretty soon and will be turning some high rpm's.

The Comp cams 272 and 280 sets are both ground on 104/112 LCs, with an LSA of 108. As is, this is best suited toward big midrange torque and good low speed response. I do NOT recommend advancing them at all. Be advised that settings that work well for HKS cams (110/110 LCs and 110 LSA), settings like +2/0, are not suitable for these cams. HKS are timed entirely differently, so do not consider those settings.

For smaller turbos, I would leave these cams set as-is. For larger turbos and best peak power, use a setting like -3/-2.

My tuner tried 0/0, -1/0, -2/0, +1/0, and +2/0 (perhaps even more but those are the ones I remember). +2/0 produced the best dyno results. I could ask him to chime in if you'd like as he is a vendor. Beyond that, I couldn't tell you why +2/0 was the final setting. I remember you advising me to try 0/0 and retarding the intake cam to see I could find a suitable balance between midrange and peak.

Ok, but there is no way that should be the case, unless something isn't what or where it should be. It definitely doesn't work on paper, and it certainly wasn't the trend I observed first-hand on the dyno with the 280s that are ground on the same LCs. Your guess is as good as mine, but if there are QC issues with these as we have seen with another formerly popular grind, I wouldn't recommend them.

I have them on my set up, ETS T4 35R, fully ported head, AEM EMS, AEM meth kit. I made 546 Hp @ 29 lbs.

I don't like them and once I do my 2.3 they are as good as gone.

They came with the head when I bought it so that's why I have them. otherwise I would have some different ones.
