P0401, P0300
P0401, P0300
I have been throwing P0401 ever since my dealer did tranny work on my ride. They took a look at the vacuum lines and said they didnt see any that might have fallen off. They said that maybe the lines were swapped by accident, but the tech that worked on the car wasnt there that day. They are 100 miles away so i thought maybe i could fix it myself by just swapping the lines. Assuming that the lines ARENT swapped, could swapping them cause any type of harm to my car? I dont think the solenoid is bad, since everything was fine before the tranny work. I really think the lines are just reversed. What do you think?
Also, i put P0300 in the subject because i been throwing this code ever since i been getting P0401, but from doing a little research in these forums, they seem to be linked. Correct statement?
Thanks

i c u are the exact reason why i dont like coming to evom to ask people questions..
On the contrary to your statement, i searched for the following phrases before posting:
swapping egr lines
swapping egr hoses
reversing egr hoses
reversing egr vacuum lines
ALL of which returned no results. i need to know if reversing the lines will cause damage. NOT what the P0401 code IS. If i failed to find the thread that specifically covers this topic, then excuse me. But i did attempt the search button first.

1. they probably disconnected a hose by mistake...
2. did you boost leak test
3. have "YOU" checked for loose hoses by the egr valve? right below the tbody .
4. if the egr is bad and you don't care for it, why don't you disable it?
5. I' was just messing with you...i had that code at 1 point.
6. P0300 may be from being to lean at cruising from changing your fueling map or from having cams..may need to adjust timing at idle or get the P0300 rom fix.

For the p0401, if you haven't already, reach down directly behind your throttlebody. Feel about 6-8 inches down for a round object. Then feel for the nipple that is attached to it. If there isn't a hose on the end of that, then there is your egr problem. It's happened to me twice and also several friends. There is short stubby hose dangling nearby most likely..lol
i tried checking for dangling hoses. everything is attached. i checked before i even posted this thread. i think they are reversed, and i need someone to confirm that it will not cause damage by reversing them if in fact they werent reversed in the first place.
Do you know someone nearby with an Evo? You could check the routing of their boost/vac lines to make sure yours are okay. If I am stating the obvious I apologize. Just trying to help.
happened to me, 401. searched found this thread, courtesy of zeus, and found a loose vacuum line just like mentioned above in #10.
a thought for the next guy, a little mirror on a stick is a good idea.
thanks guys!
