Cams for a 50 trim on 93
Cams for a 50 trim on 93
Currently ive got a set of 264/272 cams on my 50 trim set up which made 370hp @ 20psi at DSG tuning. I was wondering if i should upgrade the cams, and if so, to what ones? How much of a power gain could i expect? obviously with a retune.
I think the combo is sufficient for the time being. However a 272 intake cam would have been better. Your best bet is to see how it carries you on the dyno.
I'd definitely go with full 272's or S1's. I had 272's on my car (see mods below) and made good power. Stepped up to the S2's (planned on bigger turbo swap) and they provide high RPM punch but are a bit too aggressive for daily driving IMHO.
Im 99% sure they are HKS cams. I made 370hp on them.
I am on a flash, the car is tuned by Matt at DSG (dent sport garage in norwood mass)
If i were to change cams, what do you think i would make for power gains?

I currently run Brian Crower 272's on my Peakboost 35R setup, and they made very good power. If your going to be daily driving this car, I would stick with a nice set of 272's..just my input, take it as you wish!
I run HKS 280 cams (+2/0) on my 50 trim setup and I am very happy with how they performed over the HKS 272s that I used to run. I lost a little bit of spoolup (~100RPM) with the 280s, but gained power on the topend. I'll see if I can dig up a dyno chart to show the difference... Having said that, I am starting to look for a set of cams that will improve on the 280s. I have a built valvetrain, so there should be more options out there for me.
