I havent personally played around with stock turbos much since my 03' evo was on a 67p trim from day 1.. The car feels real good i must say.. here are the mods..

Megan manifold and 02 housing
Buschur Turbo Back
Hks 280 cams
stock evo IX Turbo
Injen Intercooler piping
Fuel Pump
ebay FMIC
DSM 1g BOV
Hallman MBC
Tuned by Cwill on Race Gas..

Here is the dyno sheet.. Peak Boost was 27lbs and where it made peak power was 24psi..

I figured the mods all used could be had for around 2k.. Im not sure if these are good numbers since i havent played with stock turbo cars much.. What do you guys think?? Thanks for the feedback!!

Mike

HKS 272

-'04 SSL EVO IIIV Stock trubo and hot side
-HKS 272's
-ETS IC and piping with ETS intake pipe
-PTE 780's
-255hp
-E85 fuel
-spike 26psi hold 24psi to redline.
-Flash tuning done buy me
-no spare
-1/2 tank of fuel
-full interior
-mini bat

Mods since last time at the track. New SBC clutch and a cold air intake. The cold air intake really makes the car more consistant and runs 2psi more to redline. I took out my IC sprayer bottle and but the whole air meter ware the tank used to be.

Cant imagine there is more in the car but I am going to do the 10.5hot side and a O2 housing and see what she does.

On my last pass I took the sub out and took the wing off and I did go just a bit faster but my launch was better so I can say at my current time the wing does not take much MPH off.

Mellon's turbo is the turbo i am getting...35r...so i guess the 280s may be the way to go for the more of a top end. Thanks everyone again for your input.

I would go w/ some s2's, but I would maybe just try to find an hks 280 exhaust cam, that would be cheaper and you will be able to hold that powerband a little longer.

These are very interesting. I was one of those guys thinking that a HKS 280/280 set up was too aggressive for a stock VIII/IX turbo. I see that I was wrong (at least at this point in time). I haven't really read a lot on the GSC S2 cams and I'm very interested to see the difference between your HKS 272 set-up and the S2's once they are installed. Mike's EVO (posted above) made 413whp on the stock VIII turbo using race gas. I'm interested in knowing how much would he make on pump gas as we have similiar set-ups (minus the difference in cams).

currently I am running and getting good results with the HTA 35R + HKS 280 cams, however, I'm going to upgrade to the Buschur BF 272's soon

Brad@mellontuning and I also like his GSC S2's on his stock turbo EVO 8

Here is what ifound while using a evo 8 tme turbo on 91 octane.

i suggest s2's or even bf 272's...granted i havent tried either of those cams yet, but i do have cosi m2's & they are a little less agrressive than s2 or bf272's & the cosi m2's are decent in the street & the boost hits hard like the hks cams but pull great till you feel the need to shift.

The power numbers are calculated via aem log data. The numbers are fairly accurate, as when i recently was dyno'd, my aem nwhp numbers were +/- 1 whp from teh dj dyno used.
