How can it take the same amount of time to pressurize a larger volume of space?

If I made my intercooler piping wrap around the car 10 times before going to the throttle body, would I not slow down spool time? (exaggerated for the sake of argument)

Or are you saying the extra time is negligible?

its common sense. of course the bigger the intercooler and bigger the piping the longer it will take to spool. the spool differance going from the 3 inch to the 3.5 inch thick intercooler might be so small that it cant be measured or felt but its there. i'm sure going from a 3 inch thick intercooler to a 10 inch thick intercooler will kill spool time.

i'm using the ets 3.5" intercooler for my buscher kit and its been working fine

When you do the math for an extra 5 or even 10 feet of intercooler piping, the change in spool time is negligible at worst. It's another of the theory vs. practice situations where the solution seems completely logical but the reality is different.

3.5in on a 20g-IX. Feels great. I had a 3in core on prior (No name) didnt feel any difference in spool time at all.

Let me tell you that thing fits awesome. I bought the ETS LICP at the same time. Fitment was way better then that logic performance piece that was on there prior.

I went with a 3.5 in ETS core. First off its easy to mount nad fits perfect with all the stock hardware (bumper beam/bumper). Better bracket solution then some of the others in have seen or installed. I did not notice ANY negative effects of a larger then stock core. I had the same debate back in december when I purchased mine. 3.5 is fine for a stock turbo and good enough for 500whp as per Tom. 4in core is pretty enormous an def not nessesary if your not making huuuge amounts of power.

thanks to the above sharing with me, I am trying to decide whether i should go w/ 3" or 3.5, it seems like most will suggest 3.5 even ETS does.

Ets 3.5 for sure. I installed this kit in less than 45mins. Fit perfect (just use 2 spacers for the bottom brackets so the cooler clears the fan). Bumper support stays intact-- That was very important for me when I was making a choice.

I love this cooler.

As everyone has stated already the fitment is perfect. All I can add to this conversation is so far i've ran an 11.3@120mph in the 1/4 on the stock turbo with the ETS 3.5inch intercooler as one of my supporting modifications.

Not laggier at all... I found that boost actually hits harder. You can check my threads dyno sheet and see just how fast it kicks in. Please keep in mind that I am running the 'dreaded' ATP 3076r kit. I see full boost much faster than many other guys on this forumn say it will.

Maybe the ets 3.5 is the reason.

I stand by this cooler 100%. Worth every penny.

Also keep this in mind because we are all on a budget,,, when you get bored of this car and want to sell, you will ALWAYS be able to sell this cooler online and get a decent amount for it as well.

That just makes buying a good cooler really worth the investment. ( That's how I convinced my wife into letting me buy it too!!)
