2005 T-case problems...

Ok so this case was just installed about 2 weeks ago. We had a shop weld a small pin hole that was on the external part of the case. Apparently they split the case and installed the clutch plates back in wrong. Well on first start up we tried to move the car it moved but bound up very bad. Turned out it was locked and just pushing the front wheels. I split the case back open with it on the car and got all the clutch plates re aligned. put it back together all was well. Well today the case now has the death whine and keeps filling its self up with the fluid from the ACD. If anyone happens to know what the deal is here it would be appriciated. For sure the ring gear sounds like its toast as its got the whine of death..... Also note that the case was perfectly fine prior to the shop taking it apart and welding it... The hole came from a downpipe rubbing it...

This is my car, we've had nothing but huge problems since we've had this thing welded. A while back I had a Downpipe rub a small pin hole in it and while we were installing my engine, we figured it would be a good idea to get it welded and fixed, but last night i popped the FILL plug and like 2qts of "milk" came out of it, we were wondering why the ACD kept taking so much fluid, guess we now know.

Looks like you are making alot of power in your sig....is this the stock t-case? I would take the acd out all together....save weight and less complication.

yeah its the stock t-case but its not an issue of it actually breaking. Its the company that welded the pin hole....

How would welding a rub hole have anything to do bad seals in the t-case. Unless they cant weld and melted a seal. I am willing to bet the seal got screwed up when putting everything back together.

Welding things like a gearbox, tx case, and rear end isn't always as simple as it seems. You really need somebody both experienced with welding different types of aluminum and the inner workings of the unit. When welding things flex, things go out of wack, and from the sounds of it the welders just aren't very mechanically inclined in that they assembled it incorrectly and who knows if they even paid attention to how it was shimmed.

It really needs sent out to someone like shep. The ring and pinion is probably shot due to the ACD fluid getting in it.

yeah this was my guess.... either that or when we moved the car with it locked up it broke somthing... we didnt move it but maybe 10 foot but it was bound up so bad that it stopped itself. Also there would have been zero shimming involved because it was just the outter cover that was removed nothing internal was move or disassembled.

When you say taken apart, did the strip the t/c to fix it, or just take it out of the car to fix it.

More than likely im going to end up getting 03-04 Tcase and getting rid of the ACD.

Anyone know if the 9 Tcases work with the 8's? Im eyeballing a deal on Ebay

As stated in the previous post it was just the outter hat that was removed to be welded. Not real complicated. Also this isnt my first rodeo i have installed 4 clutches an an engine in these cars and have a pretty decent understanding how things work. I tried to repair what the previous shop screwed up while laying on my back and trying to get the clutch plates to cooperate. It was another shop that did the welding as im just a friend of EvoCrazy... I did all the assembly work well except on that outer hat of the t-case the shop that welded it did that...
