difference in evo 8 and 9 throttle body?

difference in evo 8 and 9 throttle body?

hey guys, i was just wondering if there was a difference between the evo 8 and 9 throttle body?

They are identical, I believe. I swapped mine out with a ported IX one and noticed no differences.

Did you port the intake manifold as well? Combine they are worth 7-8whp. Just the throttle, there would probably little or no gains

ok so they are identical. For some reason i was under the impression the 9 has some other different sensor.

03/04 tb's have a heat actuated idle air bleed flapper device. the 05/06 tb's do not have this.

you can install either tb onto either year evo, it will fit & work fine, however there is a slight difference.

i will post pictures tomorrow illustrating the differences.

Thanks captain obvious, way to go OT and yes I did both. Should be worth more power than that though.

ok so i guess i should say the reason why im asking is because i want to buy a stock tb for my evo 9 to be ported from buschur (you know the $300 tb port job). But the only one i can find for sale is from an evo 8. Am i gonna be ok?

oh man i just read it again. It is done on an exhange policy. I guess they dont use the same tb i send them. They just wait for mine to come in and then they ship the one already made. hmmmm

+1 on what he said. MIL.Spec also doesn't charge $300, they cost less.

yeah, un due the screw, pull out the device, use plieers to physically pull out the mechanism & now your left with a aluminum piece that holds the o-ring. re-assemble.
