Funny idleing
Funny idleing
Hey guys. I just bought an '05 evo 8 yesterday. I have alot of trouble putting the car in reverse. I'm not sure if it the clutch or the short shifter that has been installed. But anyway... the car idles very high. It constantly idles at 1500 rpm's unless you turn the a/c on. Then it goes down to 800-1200. Also when your going over 10 mph and you put the car in nuetral, the rpm's drop to around 1000 but jump around from 1000-1300 rpm's. The check engine light is also on. Here is a list of the different parts it has on it...
Engine:
Slowboy Racing stage 2 forged shortblock, with Ross pistons, Eagle H beam rods
GSC Power division custom intake
K&N cone air filter
GSC Power Division Innercooler pipe kit
Hallman pro manual boost controller
ARP M11 head stud kit
Stock 2005 Turbo; 10.5 hot side
Injen 2005 MR test pipe
B & B exhaust
Exterior:
UK Evo rear badge in black
JDM spec rear taillights
Mini radio antenna
Interior:
B & M short throw shifter
Defi Boost guage
Innovate Motorsports wideband oxygen sensor and guage kit
GSC aluminum pedal covers
Suspension:
Hotchkis Evo 8 sport springs
Hotchkis adjustable rear sway bar
Cusco prototype trunk brace bar
Misc. mods
ACT clutch
Samco radiator hose kit
Walbro 255 lph fuel pump with fused, direct to battery, 12 v mod
GSC Stainless steel clutch line
Motul fluid in clutch system
GSC Universal aluminum oil catch can
GSC power division Evo 8 mini battery kit
Odyssey drycell mini battery
Stoptech Stainless steel brake lines
Motul brake fluid
I am not sure if it idles like that because of a part installed on it or what. Any help with this problem would be very much appreciative because unfortunately i do not know everything about these cars as i would like.

1. Pull the code
2. Im guessing you know nothing about what the tune looks like or if it even has one
3. Behind the valve cover there is the throttle cable it is attached to a slide bracket. If this is too tight the car will idle high because your a essentialy holding the throttle a little bit. Loosen the two bolts and untension or tension accordingly

step
1. go to advanced auto, ask to use there code reader
2. read code
3. do a search for that code on evom
4. attemp to fix code
5. if u cant fix code, end life, because an evo with a code is worse than a women b4 her period.

I asked the guy i bought it from and he said he checked it out and said that he thought it was the rear o2 sensor. he said when he installed the exhaust there should have been a small washer or gasket that he forgot to put on it and it reads funny. And i just asked him about the tune and he said that it did not have one yet.

Here is a picture of the engine if you can actually see if it has a 'tune':

Why did you by a essential race car that you know nothing about. Coomon man
The tune would be inside the ECU. You ant see it
. He is invisible
You need to do some research man. A tune will cost you about 300 and they will adjust you timing and A/F to optimize the power of the car.
You have no automotive knowledge and you bought a modded EVO. Good Luck buddy you'll need it
