TF is leaking BAD!
TF is leaking BAD!
Ok So thursday I took my car into the dealership because I noticed There was a VERY MINOR leak comming from under the car (it was clear and assumed it was gear fluid). They promised me my car back by afternoon and of course they ended up keeping it over night. They told me the leak was from the O-ring and Seal from the t/f which they would replace under warranty and would fix the leak..So I finally get the car back late friday afternoon (yea it took that long, after 5 hours of delayed phone calls)
I put maybe 30 miles on the car since then and I started her up saturday afternoon to go somewhere when I noticed a loud, metal noise comming from the car as I put it in first and headed down the street. So I put it in second and continued... Now it sounded like I was dragging something metal under my car, I stopped got out and looked around, I didn't see anything hanging off the car or smell anything funny, So i drove a little more and the noise went away as I parked the car at the store. I came out and started her up again, and that noise was there, just knocking, something loose and metal, I know that for sure. My car was also tuned for 25psi, I could no longer go passed 20 (My car was running @ 25 and running perfectly fine before I took her into service on thursday)
I parked my car in the driveway, popped the hood and this is what I found.

A massive pool of clear fluid. Yea something they said they fixed. I went from a MINOR small leak, to massive fludding in less than a day and 30 miles later..
So Now I have this massive pool of fluid, My boost is all ****ed up, and I have a loud metal noise that sounds like something is dragging or grinding in my car. Its worse than what it was when I had brought it in for them to fix... Anyways I called as soon as i found out and let that service tech know I would be back in firs thing monday morning...sigh...
You would think they would notice something like this when serving my car? I mean obviously they replaced the rings and seal on the TF it even says so on my print out sheet...How could they not notice this? I guess I'm aslo asking for the people who read this and Have manually replaced the seals or seen that much of the car, would it be obvious to noticed such damage to the TF? So wtf should I do now if something is really wrong and they didn't total fix my car, and it appears they might have been just ****ing with it instead of fixing it.

Allways turn your boost all the way down when other people "may" be driving your car. I have done this a few times when I was unable to drive because of drinking and my friend would drive us home....first thing I say "pop the hood". Crank the boost down all the way. People drive Evos hard when ever they get a chance. Check for boost leaks too.
What is TF? First I assumed you meant Transmission Fluid but you said "damage to the TF" and "ring and seal on the TF".
Maybe you mean the Transfer Case?
If you hear metal on metal and you have a "massive pool of clear fluid" then your transmission is probably bone dry. If you continue to drive it, it will be completely toast. Some damage has probably already been done.
Sounds like the dealer owes you a new transmission. It's not that they didn't notice this leak, they probably caused it by either not tightening all of the bolts or by forgetting to put a new seal in

Yes I mean Transfer Case. Heres a shorter version, I took it in cuz it was leaking clear fluid. On my voice they had
-fixed Oring t/f leak
-fixed Seal t/f leak
So of course the transfer case was leaking. I also didn't mention.. They did the 30k Mile service on my car was well, WHICH means, they drained the fluids and filled them up! So I know it isn't bare, (or maybe it is now bc of this massive leakage lmfao)
Anyhoo..I don't think they replaced those seals and rings right.. After reading some of the Transfer Case issues on the warranty section, it some people had to go back 4 times for them to get it right. Absolutely uncalled for, and I'm in a worse situation than what I was 3 days ago.

The transfer case bolts up to the transmission, and transmission fluid can leak from that seal... if a ton of fluid leaked out, the transmission is empty.
Trust me... I went through this same exact situaton not more than a month ago. Don't drive the car unless you want to maximize the damage. I'm sure some heat stressing & discoloration has already occurred to some of the gears.
If you settle for anything less than a brand new transmission from the dealer, then you have been totally screwed over. Tell them its junk, its their fault, and you want a brand new one.

Thanks. Like I said, I called him immediately, and he knows me by name from how many times I've been there. I told him It was leaking and everything. Car is just sitting outside lonely again..Service tech is expecting me bright and early @ 7 in the morning.

When I take it in, I assume they are just going to look @ the damn rings again. When I had them replace my 3-4th arm in the tranny they charged me $150 just to tear it apart (it part it self was under warranty, but the labor was charged)..
What the best route I should take to know if there was damage done to the tranny? Cuz I already know they are going to want to charge me money to tear that **** apart and I really really hate giving them $200 just to check something out. I have noticed its really hard to get into reverse unless i put it in 1st then put it in R as well. But my clutch is a virgin (10k miles on it) nice and strong so we'll see how it all plays out

I had a very similar issue with my T/C. I was driving around and I started to get a loud whine, took it into the dealership they took a look and tried to tell me my air filter box cover was loose (I called BS on that one). They drove it said we fixed your problem and returned my car. I leave the dealership and what do you know the noise is still there. Now I was really pissed so I was headed to the larger dealership about 20 miles away. On the way there it gets really bad, so I pull over and call them and tall them to bring a truck and pick up my car. They looked at it and find that a O'ring to the T/C was leaking and needed replaced.
As far as yours sounding like metal grinding, your fluid is possible just that low and now you have metal shavings in your T/C.

ya, I think I'm gonna take his advice and just call the their towing company to get my car from my driveway at my house. Make it look even more dramatic and look like i was too afraid to even drive the to get it fixed again. they messed my **** up. Which of course, if that fluid is leaking and they did the service and replaced the rings and it leaked which caused even more damage it is their fault. But Of course they will blame it on me, and I'll be starting another battle with the CORP for warranty issues.
