Forge BOV/VTA - which spring?
Ah thank you. Where can I learn why the Evo doesn't work well with an atmospheric BOV? I keep hearing people say it only works well with recirc BOVs.
Is the Forge recirc still an audible BOV? And is an atmospheric one workable or does it still cause problems for whatever reason?

the evo uses a MAF (mass air flow sensor) to meter the air to produce the right air/fuel mixture.. in lamens terms it needs the air to be recirculated back into the intake or the maf will create a "rich" a/f mixture..
this is why the recirculating valves will always work the best with a maf system..
however, if you really want the BOV to be very loud the Forge VTA actually works well!!.. it sometimes (more with some cars than others), however, can bog the engine (the rpms will go down for a couple seconds sometimes) while the MAF is trying to figure out what's going on...
if the sound is what you're after, you can also just get a cone filter intake system together with the Forge recirculating valve, and it'll be pretty loud as well! a nice whhooossh sound comes from that too.. however, not as much if you want to stay with your stock airbox..
it's a personal preference situation, basically. either one of the Forge valves will work fine.

Ah so a Forge recirc with a less-restrictive intake filter can offer a nice sound without having to use an atmospheric BOV and losing performance due to MAF detection. Cool.
I don't want REALLY loud, I would just like a nice whoosh.

To give you an idea of what an open-element air filter does to the BOV sound, I have the RMR intake and the stock BOV sounds wild. I can only imagine the Forge re-circ BOV with that intake.
