Forge BOV/VTA - which spring?

There is speculation as to which spring to use in the Forge BOV/VTA. I have the Yellow one in now and it flutters a bit. The next stiffest I think is the Red. I havn't tried the red yet. I wanted to get some input from you guys that have the Forge BOV/VTA. This is what mods I have with it:

Bushcur 3" turbo back w/ test pipe
S-AFC
EBC
Buschur Intake

I suppose I could try all the springs and see which one is best but decided to see what responses I get from here. Less work for me too.

actually, the yellow is the softest..

green is the next step up, which is the one that most find satisfactory..

after that it's blue... and this one you most likely will only need if you run 21+ psi..

the red one is for really high boost.. 25+!

obviously, you might need something in between these spring tensions, and that's what the shims are for.

my guess is that you'll like the green the best though.

I run 20 to 21 psi. I just tried the blue one with no shim and it still flutters a bit. Not a solid swoooosh. Hmmm. Try it with the shim?

hmm... are you sure you have it installed correctly?..

try flipping it once, and see what happens..

you really should be using the green or yellow spring.. even at 20psi.. blue is pretty hard.. more for over 21psi..

i used the VTA for a while, and it worked the best with those two springs and i believe i had the nipple end straight up... and just so you know, i also run about 20psi with a MBC..

the sound is pretty crazy when you have it installed the right way!! in other words, you'll know that it's correct, because people's heads will turn!!!!

Green is the softest, then yellow, blue, and red. I don't see a need for anyone to run the red spring, yet. The yellow spring should be perfect for this application with no shims. I would picture the valve releasing pressure at WOT at high rpm's with the green spring. I did this last night with our car and the green spring with two shims was too soft. Are you getting flutter at WOT high boost or is it a "clean" release of air pressure? I am concerned with WOT higher RPM control of the pressure.

It's like a hit and miss. It happens at WOT at 7K, and not at 5K. And it stalls.

I tried that setup yesterday. I have the blue one in now. Still flutters. And stalls.

I like how easy it is to change these out.

Tom,

Is George not helping you out man?

It really seems strange that this guy's valve is fluttering.. Mine only fluttered with the blue spring.. not the yellow one..

Also, it's important that he has the valve installed like I pointed out above... I had fluttering when I had the valve horizontal vs lateral..

When you guys talk, I'm sure you'll figure it out though..

George went on vacation yesterday for two weeks. Your boy Joe knows what I was going thru yesterday. Seeing that this is a VTA post, are you saying you had the VTA both horizontal and vertical? I know you must be talking about the recirculating valve, huh.

Yeah, he told me.. You need some assistance brotha!!

---------------

For fun I actually tried both ways with the VTA as well.. and it runs both ways! Strange, but true... The vertical way worked best, if I recall correctly..
