Which turbo to pick and how to choose
i'm planning on getting a turbo kit by the end of the year but have no idea how to pick.... i've asked 3 larger shops and each gives me a different suggestion which is fine im sure they are great kits, but i want help in choosing for my specifications..... i'll be running stock internals and possibly stock ecu or aem ems havent decided yet. planning on using the basics before you buy a turbo cams, intercooler, ic pipes, tbe, mbc, injectors, walbro 255 on pump 91 possibly meth. might have missed something but basically its a weekend driver i dont use it to commute to work but mostly for weekend drives, track days, and possibly some road racing down the line...... some options shops were saying 50 trim, green, and a 3065.
Now it doesnt have to be one of those but how do i choose the right turbo kit for what i want to do...i dont want to have buy another turbo kit down the line. what factors do i even look at, spool time, rpm it pulls full boost i really need help on choosing and maybe a recomendation on a turbo too.
goal by the next two year would be nice to see 500 hp but the numbers dont matter mainly just want to be fast and have fun on the track without be disappointed later
thanks for reading all that and for your help

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=340084 <- check it out. It's to the new HTA Green. I'm thinking you won't be disappointed if you went with it when it comes out. If you are set on 500whp though, try out a HTA 35R kit.
definatly not set on it but i dont want to be disappointed later and want more hp. that hta green sounds like it would be great for your money 600+ stock ix turbo.... not bad... i see alot of greens with meth hitting 470 and thats not bad at all so 500 mark isnt set on i just wanna go fast and have fun at the track
Well if you get a turbo kit (35r/3076/3065 etc) you can always swap in a bigger turbo later on. For example, you could get a 3076/3065 now both would work great on a stock bottom end. Then if you want more power later on (500hp) you can swap in a 35r. The groundwork would be layed.

Well running strait 91 Octane will pose some problems when going for max power on a stock motor.
If you search around there is not very many 500+ HP 91 Pump gas Evos in SoCal, Nevada and Arizona. To get there safely you need Meth....and i use safe very loosely because if the meth fails then yah.
There are a few people trying to find ways to make power with the Camel Pi$$ that comes from your local pumps. But you will not get near what some people are making that use 93 Octane. I dont care if your Santa Jesus Clause Bunny...91 Oct sucks.
The green would be a great choice for the road course...i would suggest NOT running meth. The 50 trim will give you a little more power with a little loss in spool, But not a much as people will tell you. I like mine because unlike the stocker even with the forge wastegate....my torque curve is flat and stays flat to the rev limiter. Im still Looking for more Data for the Twinscroll GT30 combo as we speak..there is just not enough out there to convince me yet. And for a stock block the 35r would be a disapointment on the track IMO...Now a 2.3 and 35r...might be a different story.
Best thing to do is talk with the people who own something similar to what you want.

maybe you should check out the ets super value kits? I am looking at the super value 50 trim kit right now...just don't know if i need a ball bearing turbo or non ball bearing...i dont know what the diff would be actually. Those kits seem to be a great deal..and a respectable dealer. I think the 50 trim would satisfy you.
The difference between a BB 50Trim and Green I think will be that at the same boost levels on pump fuel for ilustrative purpose's only - don't bite my head off... lets say at 22psi:
Stock 16G Turbo = 350HP
FP Green = 400HP
50Trim = 425HP
Everything else being equal on the same dyno, on the same day on the same fuel...
