Not the pump gas dyno record I was looking for.
Yes, we are taking a video camera, for sure.
The car is going to the track tomorrow if it doesn't rain. I hope it's dry.
The customer cars are for sure strong, I really expected to make 600+ whp but it's just not going to do it on pump gas. The good thing is the customers can know I don't hold back when I do their cars. The other good thing is the guys around here who doubt what I say at times can see that even when I am confident that something is going to work a certain way or produce a certain number, I won't cheat, even if it's my own car. "It is what it is."
HOPEFULLY, at this power level the car will be able to run a 9 second pass on pure 93 octane. I'd like that.
As soon as I am done with the pump gas at the strip it's back to the dyno for more testing and then back on race gas.
I have some other goals to get after.
BTW, we will be running the car at Norwalk when we do run it.

WOOHOO! I hope it doesnt rain! Im coming up to finalize the stuff for my car and a couple of my friends are coming along from school! We would love to be there for a 9sec Pump run!
Still great #s no matter what anyone says!

Another GREAT JOB by David and Buschur Racing. I know you had hopes for 600whp but it will get there and beyond "Dont forget all the innovative stuff you and Jim are doing!" Either way you have nothing to be dissapointed about who else do you know makes pump gas cars run 9's?
Keep up the good work!
BTW: I dont think i thanked Jarrod and Nick for everything they did to help with all the problems Fedex put us through. So thank you guys for everything the whole team gets a rounds of
when i get down there sometime!
Chris

I hope you are right Indy! Looking forward to the next round of testing, believe me.
"Only 26 short" is a mile when I expected it to actually make 620'ish.
I was shocked at how much less timing the car could take with the pump gas. Drastically different on my car compared to Tim's, Eric's and Jeff's, drastically.
I also expected I'd be able to see 34-35 psi without a problem and just couldn't seem to get it there.
At the end I got disgusted and threw in the towel, set the boost at 30 psi and just pulled the timing out.
AFR's ended up in the very low 11's.
I'm hoping once on track I can find some hidden power but it is very unlikely. Generally when the car is done on the dyno here it is done. Nothing left to gain by a fine tune at the track.

Out of curiousity, what do you think is the determining factor when it comes to how much timing a car can make? Your car took less timing than vwjeff but made same peak hp?
Is there any reason your car should make more power then vwjeff? Oh I just remembered you have electric water pump. And then also remember vw on 37r. Doh! And you have a custom header correct? Maybe not best comparison.
Do you ever play with cam gear settings? I suspect you build the engines just lining up cam gears to the marks versus degreeing them. Maybe you have an out of spec cam?
Anyway just some thoughts, admittedly basic but I'm just curious.

I know my car has a lot less timing in it than Eric's. Are you running less than me?? That's crazy if you are as my timing is pretty low.
