engine cleaners??
My cousin told me two weeks ago that he and his dad put some engine cleaner into his car and it runs better along with getting better gas mileage. He drives and audi A4, and it has turbo as well. He recomended that i do it to my car to but im very sceptical about it. Im thinking it'll coat the turbo up with w/e this stuff is. I believe he said he used a product called Seafoam. and no its not foam, its just a liquid that you somehow put into the intake and idk it cleans stuff out.
So has anyone used this stuff, good, bad?? and i tried a search but nothing at all about engine cleaners

I've used it several times before but never on a turbo car though. It is called Seafoam PN SF-16. I sell it at my auto parts store. The best way to use it is to unhook an intake vacuum line and have it suck the seafoam into the intake. It will create a smokescreen though. I've heard it can also clog the cat with a bunch of crap so sometimes people unhook the cat from the exhaust before running it through. Its also a good idea to change your oil after using it as well, but it is very effective at cleaning out the top of the engine.
It won't hurt if you use it properly, it does a good job of cleaning the intake manifold but it won't work any miracles or make a noticable difference unless your engine is really gummed up with carbon (75-100k miles with no prior cleaning). Not a bad idea to do once a year to keep everything like new.

thanks guys, i searched seafoam and yup stuff came up but it wasnt obvious i had to read through the threads. anyway im gonna run it through one of our other cars then the evo after i see how it words. im also thinking of running it through the oil before i change it out so clean that up
I've always heard very good things about SeaFoam when it's used the correct way. I've had decent results on a few older vehicles I've had, but haven't used it on a new(ish) car yet. Just be sure to follow the instructions given and take advice from people here on the forum and chances are you'll see improvement in one way or another

my buddy and i seafoamed our evos a few months ago.
good stuff.
2 cars, 3 bottles.
1/2 bottle in gas tank (1/4 full), 1/2 in oil, 1/2 in intake manifold.
drive 30-50 miles very mildly, then do oil change.
lots of **** came out of the car.
we gunned it side by side down an industrial street, and we couldnt see anything behind us. 3 blocks were FULL of smoke.
