3rd gear grind

I just got my IX and I've noticed it sometimes grinds when going into 3rd, does anyone else have this problem? It’s not horrible, just kind of annoying. It kind of feels like when you don't push the clutch in all the way and you get that little grind before it goes into gear. Any help is much appreciated.

This is pretty common... 5th is usually the worst.

As long as you don't slam it into gear, it should be fine.

I read over other posts last night about 3rd and 5th gear grinds and was wondering how many people are second or third owners, and did you have a problem getting the warranty work done?

I just bought a used IX with 17K on it and I've noticed the same thing. I took it to the dealer and they said that when they drove it they didn't notice anything unusual, but there is a known issue with the synchros. They said they would have to tear it all apart to take a look and would have it for a few days, but the warranty still covers it.

I also noticed that the clutch seems to make a slight rattling/humming noise but goes away when I push the pedal all the way and comes back when I release it. Only notice it when I'm parked as it's not too loud. Anyone else got this?

What's the mileage on your car?

I had a 4th gear grind so when I switched out my clutch I shipped my tranny and had a shep rebuild. Haven't got it back yet.

off topic, but when you put the stainless steel braided clutch line does that get rid of the restrictor pill?

Yes. Restrictor pill is done away with. I'm 90% sure of it.

Try adjusting your clutch engagement point it will solve the problem in most cases bro..
does a lot to cut down on "synchro grindage"

u can put back in the pill with the ss line or leave out as u would have to remove from old one and put into new ss line

restrictor pill basically limits amt. of fluid going to the clutch
