He isn't the only person that I've seen have problems with these plugs. While they do give a better spark and dyno proven HP, the plug isn't tough enough and ends up self destructing.

no piston damage maybe a lil scratch here and there on top of the piston, cylinder wall due to being TDC i gotta turn the crank to see it but having issues due to timing belt still on with cam gears, and highly doubt my turbo took a dump either.

Do you have an ignition box of some sort on your car? It looks like the spark generated by the Pulstar plugs is too strong/hot and it is melting the grounding strap.

I am very glad I saw this thread. I will keep purchasing the NGK coppers. Sorry for your loss.

if it was bad deontation then i should have gotten it bad long time ago with my stock plugs. My car ran fine with stock plugs all the way untill i changed them. but i may be wrong as well who knows.

You don't melt a valve with bad spark plugs.

Bro you put the wrong size in your car, and you wonder why you had problems.

He has an Evo 9 plug. The valve broke, not melted. The plug melted.

That looks like a seriously long threaded body...is that the same length as stock???

Granted I have an VIII and not a IX, but my plugs aren't nearly as long as that. Anyone with a IX care to vouch on how much longer the IX plugs are???

clearly pre-ignition damage. Completely different than detonation damage. pre-ignition damage is when normal like spark occurs at the wrong time. usually caused by something glowing in the chamber. In this case its clear the heat range was way too hot. The straps are turning blue from the heat. damage caused by pre-ignition is vastly different than detonation damage as well. You can see there is not damage to aluminum parts. detonation attacks pistons and cylinder head by allowing extreme heat to enter those parts at or near TDC. The type of damage we have hear is when you have ignition way before TDC this makes tremendous combustion heat but not at TDC specifically. In turn the valve melts as this exteme heat is expelled from the chamber.

definitely ruined your engine installing these plugs. hopefully they will do something about it, but It will be an uphill battle. hopefully your misfortune will save others from making the same mistake.
