A lot of threads lately about large cams on stock turbo's being very good unlike before where most vendors or comp. advised against it.

I think you'll be fine as long as you made sure you dont need springs and retainers to run those. They are big so i would assume they would need the ugraded valve train.

They should work dandy, post before/after dyno plots if you can! I'd love to run this setup on stock turbo, should make good power!

I agree with this comment as well. As far as your set up, you will be ok with stock turbo and benefit more from an upgraded turbo with the cams. Research and find out if you need to upgrade the valvetrain though. Some cams require it, and others don't.

280 can work on a stock turbo but u lose lowend drivability + the stock would have to be built up to fully take advantage of the topend. i would highly recommend u build the head prior to a cam that aggressive. valve springs Ti retainers, valve guides, cam gears + those cams require solid lifters.

if you do it right (not the cheap way), you will be looking at around 40-50whp over the stock cams...

Good idea on the springs and retainers, tomei 280 are pretty high lift cams so you'll need them. There seems to be a trend of going with big cams on stock turbos lately, and no one has yet to report anything bad lol go for it!

Just to elaborate on what DJ said above, theose big cams move the power band up the RPM range, traditionaly were big turbos start to spool up and move lots of air were the stock sized turbos start losing efficiency.

With tricky tuning, cam gears and some high boost, people here have been able to get some good hp #'s with a 16g and big cams.

member "Ted B" has somes posts on this approach.
