Curious what to expect with IC n piping?

I am just curious if the ic n piping is worth the money and how much more power can I get out of the stock turbo. My mods are in my sig. it seems the only power mods I am missing before the big stuff is the ic. I am just curious what to expect? I already have 350 whp n 323 lb ft. tq. Can the IC give me another 25 whp n 25 lb ft. tq. say and a noticeable feel of power to it? I will probably go with the etc 3" or possibly 3.5". Fwiw I did have heat soak on my last tune session cause it was hot n humid.

As far as power mods that are going to make any significants you've maxed out your turbo. Meth or turbo upgrade should be next. Don't waste your money on a FMIC unless you plan on doing meth or a bigger turbo.

frount mount is one of the best things you can do stock turbo or big turbo. They provide way more cooling. And any kid of cooling of intake charge temps helps bring up hp a lot by letting the gasoline atmoize better with the cold air.

I have to agree, when I was getting tuned all they kept telling me is this stock ic is definately holding me back and was maxed out! I will get a larger turbo in the future not very big though.

the stock IC isnt very good, your car will get heat soaked very fast with the stock IC

You'll gain some ponies with the IC, how much, that will depend on the tune. TQ on the other hand, tends to stay stagnant or lose a little, due to better flow and lack of back pressure in the system. The biggest gain comes from lack of heat soak, this is the main reason to upgrade your IC and is the reason I went with the ETS 3" WT. Prior road tuning, I would get heat soak after six to eight pulls, now my temps are consistent and makes tuning more enjoyable.

I believe he said that he will be including a set of IC pipes too,
so I find it quite possible to achieve 25 hp out of that setup. With a good tune that is, and of course a good intercooler.

You can't count on the advertisment of "10-15 HP" for a LICP, "5-10 HP" for a UICP and "10-15 HP" for a IC, add it all up and expect it to be 40 HP increase. It all depends on what other supporting mods you have and what can be achieved from the tune. I would say 25 Hp is a good ball park for HP, but TQ is another story. Like mentioned by CASH, a IC kit plus Meth and you'll have a torquer.

Do it, and go bit. Buschur RACE FMIC or similar FTW. You will see more consistency between pulls, and you will be set for future upgrades as well

351hp to the wheels is pretty close to the ceiling of the stock turbo. I agree with previous posters.. Probably won't add 25whp, but definitely more consistency from run to run.

It's in his sig that he already has a LICP, and UICP doesn't do much except for make your bay look pretty. You are going to need a bigger IC regardless of what mods you want to do next. Meth you will be running higher boost and will need a bigger IC and/or bigger turbo same thing.

You will have the ability to make a fair bit more power because the knock threshold will go up by a couple pounds of boost and several degrees of timing on pump gas as a result of a more efficient (and less prone to heat soak) intercooler. Because of the better cooling and resistance to heat soak you'll find that your EVO is very consistent as has been posted, and will make the big power pull after pull. Although Lucas from English Racing making 506whp on the stock IX turbo is some what of an anomaly (and not on pump gas), there is quite a bit more power left in the turbo over what you're making now. It sounds like you are already on the right track, but if you have any questions about what setup would be best for your goals, don't hesitate to ask!

^^ I can vouch for that on my own car. Was able to go from knocking at 22psi to no knock at all and currently at 24.5 psi

Great advice and knowledge! I do have a buschur licp and stock uicp but I will probably sell the licp and go with a 3" ets ic w upper n lower piping and I do have an apexi filter on so I will probably go with the intake tube as well. I did have zero knock @ 23lbs but once I have the ic setup I believe I should be able to run 24 or maybe 25 lbs safely. Would love to go for 400whp with stock turbo just don't know if I can do it without meth. Probably should have gone wit the gsc stage 2 cams instead of 1.

ets fmic ftw! If you are curious what an evo with basic mods will do with an intercooler before/after check out this thread: page 5, post #72

+21awhp with no tuning since i had done my previous mods I would consider to be significant. The actual tune we ended up doing was ultra safe too for road racing. The car didnt have any big heatsoak issues on the dyno but we were doing alot of runs and i could tell that the car would probably have put down a little more had we gave it some time to cool but i'm very happy with the numbers reguardless and I didnt want to push it. We since have removed the stealth catback and I put back on my old turbo xs and did a more agressive tune and i guarantee i'm making quite a bit more power now. THIS IS ALL ON STOCK CAMS... I am nowhere near maxing the stock VIII turbo and this intercooler still helped A LOT. Highly recommended mod for your car.
