Forge Motorsports BOV

I was looking at the install page for the Forge Motorsports BOV, just to make sure mine was on correctly...As i read the last part of the install..I realized that mine was put on incorrectly or in otherwords..the bov was mounted opposite of the way it was suppose to be....

I was wondering if this would cause any problems to the engine??

Please post...I am very concerned..Thank you..

no problems. it has been shown that the forge bov can be mounted in either orientation. the same orientation as the stock bov is the preferred way though.

So that means...The BOV can be mounted in either hose...and it wont' hurt the turbo??

Which BOV are we talking about first? The recirculating, aka diverter valve, or the actual VTA BOV. The VTA cannot be mounted in both hoses as it needs to be on the pressure side of the turbo.

I plugged the other hose...Not the bottom one..The one of the side...That hangs.

Is it bad if i had it like that b4?? If so, how much damage would it have caused??

That is bad. I think If I understand you correctly you mounted the BOV on the intake tube in front of the Turbo. If so, than yes, that is extremely bad because you then essential have no Blow off since you plugged up the hole on the intake tube leading to the throttle body.

oops....i misunderstood. i thought you meant the diverter valve. as stated above you will want the bov on the pipe leading to the throttle body. fyi i believe there are actually instructions on installing the VTA bov on this website under project evo......sound like you may want to check it out.

Don't worry about it now. What's done is done.
How do you like the BOV?

How long did you run it that way?

Realistically the DV valve is a safety mechanism to keep boost back-wash out of the turbo when you let off the gas between shifts. This keeps the turbo stalling to a minimum between spools, and supposedly helps ensure less load on the turbo and longer turbo life overall. After all if the pressure isn't flowing into and out of the heads to the exhaust, it has to go somewhere and that is either out a DV/BOV or back against the turbo impellar.

That said My Syclone doesn't have a DV or BOV, and instead anytime you chop the throttle you get major impellar chop noise as the turbo deals with the sudden change in air flow. Who needs a VTA when you can scare the population with a simple open air element!

BTW- I am on my second engine in the Syclone and still running the same turbo which still looked great and was clearance checked for end play and still well within spec.

Bet you were thinking your VTA was a dud eh?!
