Tranny problems after rebuild!! Help!!!
Vincente,
I'm fuming right now on several levels.
I was in and out of the office on Thursday and Friday, and Erik spoke to me today on this and I found this thread.
Let me first of all refresh your memory as to our discussion back on June 11th:
Re: Transmission Thread
Thank YOU for responding! I have taken it to a local shop that works for evos here in southern california. They are a Evom Sponsor as well they are Tuning Technologies, U can contact them at (909) 783 1200 since I dont have the car or the tranny at the moment. I also left your guys phone number to see if they have questions towards you guys, if thats ok? Im not too familiar with transmissions, but hopefully it was just an install error on my part. I just didnt expect such a long time for the car to be down. I dont know if it was damaged during shipping but that could also be the culprit of my problems. I have worked in shipping before and have seen first hand how they treat packages. Well Ill be in touch and will call you guys if I have any questions or if tuning technologies has any questions.
Thank you,
Vicente Ramirez

I'm not sure why you weren't told this, as I told the guys who work for me here, but if it's something wrong with the transmission itself, you'll need to send it back to us. It's simply not something that can be diagnosed/fixed 3000 miles away. Of course, if it's something that happened on our end, we'll be covering the shipping.
The biggest thing I'm worried about is that UPS may have damaged the transmission in shipping. We package them as if they were a glass vase, but shipping companies don't seem to let us down with how they can ruin things no matter how they're packaged.
A hard impact on the shift levers can cause havoc on a transmission and lead to some of the issues that you've outlined. I assume that you've inspected the shift levers on the transmission to make sure that they weren't bent, but it's not always 100% that if this happened that they'd be bent.
As far as the "Shift Fork" aspect, it's basically impossible for that to happen. They're installed *1* way, if they're not installed that way, the cases wouldn't even close, nor would the shafts fit inside the cases---it's simply not possible that is the issue.
Please let us know when you're shipping it back to us (package it as carefully as you can) and we can send a UPS Call-Tag for it.
Thanks!

That's the last correspondence I got from you on it. As is obvious, we had concerns on shipping handling, and I offered to have you send it back and take care of it (shipping on our dime).
Now, let's fast forward to now.
--You basically refused (in action) to send the transmission back to us and have now sent it to two other shops to work on.
--You state that Tuning Technologies said that 4th Gear was horrible and needed to be replaced. Does "2528A050" ring a bell? If not, check your invoice, as that was a BRAND NEW gear that they said was torched (check your invoice).
--You state that after Tuning Technologies "fixed" the supposed issues with the transmission it was as bad if not worse then your original post (you edited the post instead of adding to it, so can't reference it anymore) and then tore it open and said that they suggested sending it somewhere else at that point. (great support of their ability that was supposedly reputable).
--You state that Tuning Technologies charged you $1500 to replace two gears which were already replaced which is what we charged you for a complete rebuild with parts (makes sense somehow I supposed), and still didn't fix the issue. Not only that, but then suggested that you take it somewhere else.
--You state that one of John's guys told you that the input shaft was missing. Are you kidding me?? Do you realize that the input shaft is also the one that 4th gear is on as well as the one that the clutch slides over? If that was missing, there would not only be a gaping hole in the transmission, but the engine wouldn't even SPIN the transmission??? I chalk this up to some sort of mis-interpretation.
--Now you state that the transmission is worse in EVERY gear as opposed to the orginal issue. *AND* you're wondering if we should cover the expenses you've incurred after A) refusing to let us take care of it, even if an issue was caused in shipping (guess we'll never know that now) *AND* B) After having a shop that obviously has made it worse tore it down and "rebuilt" it. On top of that, you post this as if we're solely responsible for all of your issues after two other shops have torn into it.
On top of all of the above, you can't locate my name on the forum (a quick search for "JNZ" would have answered that in about 2 seconds), AND you spoke to Erik on Thursday concerning this (you faxed over an invoice as he didn't realize that it was something that was done back in March and you're finally contacting us again now).
Wow...just...wow.

It is in part my fault for taking so long but I wasnt told what was wrong with the transmission.
I drove the car before even taking it to tuning technologies and it made a horrible howling noise, it wouldnt shift into reverse or 5th gear and I had to force all the gears into gear when I even attempted to shift gears. I dorve it 1/2 a mile at most I stopped it and I Towed the car to tuning technologies as they are the colsest shop to me for them to diagnose it.
Tuning Technologies tried to fix what they saw was wrong with it and they showed me the parts I can pictures if you would like to see the parts that were messed up.
I have realized that tuning Technologies didnt fix the problem as well and they said they would discount their work.
Shepperd Transmissions are the ones who found all the faults so obviously you didnt fully fix the transmission.
