You can take it to any dealer as long as the car is under warranty. If you have any mods you may want to take them off as the dealer may say that your transmission problems are a result of the mods and may not cover your repairs under warranty.
yea the car is under completle warranty but did come wiht an aftermarket exhaust which they told me was stock but clearly isnt. anway thats the only mod and do you no if they pay for labor?

I'm pretty sure that he would be fine with the aftermarket exhaust. But than again it does depend on the dealer itself. If he has any doubts than he should take the car back to the dealer he bought it from since he stated that the car came with the aftermarket exhaust.
and mitsu will void a warranty over anything, an exhaust will be a deff.
I would take it back to the dealership that you bought it from for sure, your state may have laws that can offer you some protection. Does it just have a catback or a full TBE. Also, this may seem like a stupid question to ask but are you sure it's not the stock exhaust? The stock exhaust tip is probably 3" wide and chrome so a new Evo owner might not realize it's stock. The stock muffler is an oval style muffler and the midpipe enters from the side. An aftermarket muffler will almost always be a round straight through muffler.
