GSCS1's + Mellon Tune = 360whp+

I had my S1's installed last week and had Chris at Mellon tune the car today, the results are all around great. The car lost nothing in the low end an posted big gains in the mid and high ends, pulls strong to 7500+ now. The things no one talks about , part throttle response, driveability and engine flexibility are all showing huge gains. Chris was great as usual, explaining what the tuning process, and making sure the power was maxxed out AND the car is safe. The cams are a huge help but the biggest power gainis always from a great tune. Thanks Chris. Dyno ( DLL ) to follow. Wht to do next?.......Boost is an addictive drug....I want more....

I just had mine installed about a month ago and there is a noticeable difference but I did'nt gain that much from them due to heat soak and a very hot humid day while getting tuned. So just purchased ETS 3.5" and uicp n licp, that should help alot! Sometimes the numbers don't speak what the car can do because after the s'1s there was a noticeable difference even though the the whp n tq did'nt reflect as such!

haha it's never enough Eric...I had a great time today, we had some fun

tuning your car
sideways through the 90* turn in my evo roasting all 4 tires
racing the 580rwhp GTO with spray in my TT stealth
and a good lunch

hell of a day right?

DLL before and after the GSC S1
the pre cam tune was done about 6 months ago when it was very cold and now it's very hot so keep that in mind.

we purposely hot lapped the car with multiple 3rd gear pulls back to back to back trying to coax out those knock demons and we did tons of 1/4 mile runs again to clean up any potential issues and further perfect the tune. Again these are not dyno queen glory pull tunes that I do, these are customized to the car so that it runs great at all times.

I'm very pleased with the results, you have a strong one Eric!

yep, I was watching the RPM gauge on evoscan while Eric was banging the gears at 7500-8000 and it was landing at 6000rpm...right on that peak hp so it felt really good.

wtf, 68whp from cams? No way. More boost? More timing? What else was added to the car?

I'm sure there is something else here we aren't seeing as you are correct, no way in hell that S1's will create almost 70whp gains.

Plus a DLL dyno done 6 months ago (probably a different street) vs a DLL dyno done now is not something very credible.

Either way it sounds like the car gained power, the owner is happy and the tune was done well as it was a "wholesome" tune.

Some of the HP gains are DEFINATELY comming from the tuning, the cams are great for this level of mods we were also able to go from 21.5 to 23.5peak boost. The car feels completely different, I was never able to pull after 6700 before the cams, now I am running to 7500 to 7600 shift point and not feeling any fall off. Chris's 550whp Evo is a BLAST!!!feels like it is peeling the skin off of your forehead, and man do the shifts have to come FAST. What a great Day!!!!Definately worth the price of admission. Thanks Chris....can't wait to get to the track now I know my tune is safe.

sorry guys, I totally forgot to mention the slight boost increase, I'm sure that accounts for some of the gains.

as for the DLL before and after, I did mention the temp changes and the pulls were done on the exact same stretch of road and starting point.

I wish we had better data by doing the cam swap and tuning in the same day but this is the next best thing and clearly the car performs much better.

also it's worth pointing out that the GSC S1's didn't kill any of the low rpm grunt which was important to Eric as he isn't focusing solely on drag racing. Brad@MellonTuning has the GSC S2's in his Evo and he also did not lose any low rpm grunt. We're big fans of the GSC S1 and S2's...nice cams.

After a little tweaking I was able to get the S1's to barely show any signs of lope per Eric's request. He has a Porsche with a nasty cam and that's enough lope to last him a lifetime.
