03 and 04 evo has the 9.8 hot side, while the 05 evo has the 10.5 hot side. The Evo IX has the 10.5 hot side and larger cold side as well.

All of this info is terribly wrong.

TVBF1's info is correct.

This is an ADVANCED forum, not a for-sale forum. I have no idea how it got in this forum nor why it hasn't been deleted yet.

OP, it is very much NOT normal to blow a stock turbo. You should probably find out exactly what caused it to fail so that it doesn't happen again.

03evo8gsr, when you say you have a IX turbo for sale, that INCLUDES the hotside. You don't sell the turbo incomplete without a hotside, and IX turbos already come with the 10.5 hotside. They are not sold separately.

Lastly, I bought my complete used Evo IX turbo (compressor outlet pipe, oil/coolant lines, entire turbo) for $450 shipped.

I thought the only difference in the cold side was the compressor cover itself?

Is the 16g compressor different between an 8 and 9 turbo?

If you blew your nine turbo , what part distructed? What else could of caused this? Did something interupt your cooling?

It's not just the cover, else we'd all just slap the cover on our 05s. There are more parts that are different, but I don't know every single piece. I am not sure if the compressor wheel itself is different or not.
