Don't forget this isn't just for plain stock turbo guys. This mani would work for 8's upgrading to 9 turbos, Green's, this supposed "white" turbo, the future CBRD turbo, the anticipated "larger, slower spooling variant" FP mentioned. There are a lot of people who rock the stock frame turbos. Some are paying upwards of 500 to 1000 for top quality tubulars. If Indy can work his magic as he did with the IM, and best the tubulars that are already out there with a stock mani, I think people on the quest for monster stock type turbos would shell out 500 for the port job easy. Hell, I would!

this is great! since there are a lot of evo owners who can't afford big turbo kits so improving on the current one would be great. Just like how the fp green clicked. it would be nice to suppliment that green or stock turbo with a good quality consistent manifold. plus i believe there would be a lot of people here who would love to see more power from the green. if this works then the green would get closer to the 30r which would be great for people who are on a budget.

^^ how would this benefit people on a budget?

Buschur offers an awesome 3076r with a cast manifold for 2800

You buy a green for 1800, aftermarket down pipe for 250 or so, manifold for lets say 300, ported ebay 02 housing for 100, lower ic pipe for 150 and you already up to buschurs 3076r turbo kit. An awesome ported manifold would be awesome, but lets not kid ourselves, this is not the best bang for the buck mod.

I think the question some are asking is how much of a gain CNC would produce over a hotside that's been radiused and ported by hand (assuming it has been done correctly). And then, if there are gains, what is the cost compared to the other option.

I will leave it to Indy to answer those questions, as I lack his credentials

I think the 'Stock Appearing' Intake and the 'Stock Appearing' exhaust manifold would be of great benefit to those states that don't allow tubular headers or after market intakes. Being able to have same performance with 'stock appearance' becomes a big thing to those owners.

Indy, you must have a HUGE plate because with all the things you have going on already I'd have though your plate was full!

At this rate we will have Stock Appearing EVO's at the Shootout running 9's!

Quite simple actually! Yes, you can get a great cast mani kit for 2800....but you HAVE to buy the whole kit in order to use it. You cant put the mani on without the turbo, the new O2, the new down pipe, the new LICP....With a stock type turbo, you CAN buy your parts and install them piece by piece. You get to enjoy your small power boosts without dropping 3 grand plus install all at once. Most of the people looking at this mod will probably already have a full exhaust, a good chance of having an after market IC w/pipe as well as cams and fuel additives. For the guys looking to really push the limits of stock frame turbos, every little bit helps. Used stock exhaust manis are a dime a dozen, and usually around 50$, so buy a used one, have the port job done and you're probably still cheaper then some of the top performing stock turbo tubular manifolds (Full Race for example, thats a G right there, big dent in the pocket)

Good stuff, I think the key point would be the price. I had Buschur port my exhaust manifold and hotside on my evo 9, seemed to do very well with minimal mods on my car, if there could be a bigger gain to be had over the standard Buschur porting with being a little more in cost I would do it. Again, if you need some manifolds for testing let me know, I have 3 laying around here I could send to you at no charge.

Careful porting of the turbine housing inlet is a good idea and there are some gains to be had. It is limited, though, since you can only reach the first inch and a half or so of the inside of housing.

Extrude honing, on the other hand, smooths out all of the internal cast surfaces of the housing, right down to where the exhaust gas reaches the turbine wheel.

I'm curious how a well-ported housing compares to an extrude honed one.
