JDM Evo VII's did come with anti-lag. There is some additional hardware and the ECU has programming to make use of the hardware. Its been discussed quite a bit in the ECUFlash forum.

well after a little more research it seems as if it is actually a toned down versions of anti lag known as "turbo assist".... it is a metal line that runs directly into the exhaust manifold... does this sound correct?

they use a 2-step to build boost before the launch, and some might use nitrous to spool on the launch.

yeah thats it and it dose NOTHING to help spool the turbo! lol you would need a much bigger and better setup to make any real life imopact on trubo spool.

me too because i just dont see anyone with a bigger turbo gt35r or bigger spooling it up with a 2step i mean a 2 step on a stock turbo only builds 7-8 psi maybe a little more and that turbo is way smaller then a 35r

you have to remeber that turbos only make boost when you start to load the engine. thats why the V8 gusy run trans brakes to hold the car so they can load the engine and get the trubo(s) spooled.

it would be intresting to see what a true anti-lag/launch control system could do on an evo. i know you can buy launch controle kits that cut spark on launch (as the car is moving) to minimise wheel spin and maximise traction. wonder if the launch controle stuff in the Motecs works the same?? or if it just redards ignition like the anti-lag dose??

cheers

here's a vid of the silver AMS evo making 15psi off a 2-step on a 42R.

Now I know this is true for the most part, but doesnt tuning the ECU usually change that factor? Which is why you can build boost using the 2 step?

Or am I misinterpreting who that works?

i have heard mixed things. some say that anti-lag is loading the engine, orthers disagree!

at the end of the day your engine will be at full chat with a 2step or a anti-lag launch contole. the throttl;e will be fully open and the engine will be trying to consume as much air and fuel as possable. all you are doing is using the spark timing to "hold back" the engine.

sorry i cant help more. hope someone can though??

Chris.

No we actually use anti-lag for spool .. Brandon comes out on a bit of boost..
