Pink's ALL OUT ! (New Turbo, New Direction)
I had a crack in my Groden Rods as well, luckily we caught it before we had some major carnage. I'm thinking of stepping down to the hta35r as well, it has proved to go fast, reliable and you won't have to rev to the moon to keep it in boost. Good luck at Pinks, show them domestics that the imports can hang
In your car, an hta 35r wouold probably still bot you a low 9 or high 8 lol...Good luck Al!

That is the turbo which I am making reference to
However, just to be clear that is NOT the turbo in my car presently. I am running a larger wheel on my car.
The turbo pictured should be a great turbo for any street car which is looking for Gt35 like spool up and some more power up top.

It is a T4 back housing. The turbo can work with a T3 or a T4 back housing.
The 02 housing and down pipe have been fabricated thanks to Pruven and I am back at ICS and ready to tune

I must say that I do not have an answer at this time
There is some possibility that a 750 - 800 whp car may have the potential with enough weight reduction and suspension work to run a high 8 second pass. In fact, I would suggest that guys like David Buschur have done it already years ago with things like VPC / AFC and crappy outdated turbo wheels.
The reality is that economic conditions no doubt will play a huge role in determining what level my future race activities take. No matter how many parts sponsorships you have and how much help you can get from others at the end of the day running a full tilt drag Evo eats a lot of parts and thus money in the process. Since I am a one man team, (tuning, wrenching, building, transporting and driving) the participating in drag racing not only takes a huge financial impact but it also taxes my spare time after work hours and takes me away from my family for long hours, almost all the time.
At the end of the day those who make a serious effort to participate in some form of drag racing are driven by passion and determination for the sport. Only those who have done it will understand what it takes to pursue this game.
As far as a 8 second car, from what I have seen the forumla is rather simple, what is required is a significant weight reduction to get the car down to the 2,400 - 2,500 range with driver and 900 - 1000 whp. The reason why I have not yet taken the steps needed to lighten my car to that extent are several.
1 - I still race my car in classes which require a full body - e.g. stock roof, doors and windows. (no plastic doors and lexan windows)
2- I have still not rulled out the possibility of returnng my car to a street machine and running it on the road again more regularly. Of course, I would need to spend a few days re-installing head lamps, etc etc etc but I have all the stock parts (including my rear wing and deck lid) saved and ready to go just IN CASE. I really dont want to go any further with the race mode modiifcations as far as cutting up the car until I reach the point of deciding the car is a FULL RACE car and will never see the road again.
3 - Saftey. I have not been confortable or felt "safe" in my car for some time. The 1,000 whp mark brought the car to a point where the chassis was unable to smoothly and controlably put the power down on the track without excessive tire spin and this loss in control combined with the 150 mph plus trap speeds makes for a unsafe feeling that I did not enjoy. The thought of impacting a wall or another car in a gutted drag evo at 150 mph is a sobering vision which does not have a happy ending.
I believe strongly in taking things one step at a time and in following your objectives.
Thus, the first step is to get the car running in a consistant and reliable manner with the new turbo combination and make a professional showing on the Pinks show to represent Evos well. After that, it would be very easy to re-attach the Gt42 turbo and continue with the madness of 1,000 plus whp. I think a lot will depend on how the car feels and runs at the 750 - 800 whp level.

hey AL, this Pinks show, as i have only seen it like onces or twice, if u lose does this mean u lose your car? im assuming not. i dont think u would entertain such a competition.
what do u win on the show?
also about this new turbo u are running. i am in the mechanical engineering field and the fact that the wheels on this turbo are billet are boggleing the hell out of my mind. how do they machine such a piece? i do know that there are some practices out there where metal is actually built from grains of metal dust into whatever u want. im not sure what the process is called but its like a stereolithography but with metal.
anyone have any ideas how these wheels are machined/produced?

No, you only lose your car on the regular version of Pinks, not the ALL OUT show. On All Out, you win a cash prize (i think a few k) and keep your car. Also, there is no giving car-lengths on All Out, its all straight-up. They also toss cars that are sandbagging, even if they win the race. Thats what the show should be in the first place, none of that head-start, sandbagging bs.
