^ what he said. Bought 2 years supply online for both my mitsu's. Mobil filters made the lifters loud in my 2g but with oem they stay nice and quiet. Don't know about mobil filters in the evo.

The special is going on again at AutoZone until the end of August I believe. Just bought 5qt. of Mobil 1 Extended Performance with a Mobil 1 oil filter for $30 at the register . No Mail-In Rebate! I'm going to use Wix filter, so I'm using the Mobil filter on another car. Good Deal, get it while it last. For $3 less you can also get the non-Extended Performance.

The M1-110 is the right Mobil 1 oil filter for the evo. I don't know why they told him that it was the 105 unless that's the one for the normal lancer .

AMSOIL recommends WIX filters( WIX 57092 Oil Filter) second to their own AMSOIL oil filters. They're recommended up to 7500 Miles.

The Mobil 1 recommended is the M-110, but it is the tall skinny filter, not the short fat filter used by Mitsu or WIX. (3 filters fit the Evo- short skinny, tall skinny, short fat(used by Mitsu)).

For that reason alone I use the WIX filter. It's cheaper too.

BTW- I just did a 6200 Mile Oil Interval on my Evo, with AMSOIL 0W-30, and a WIX filter.

I will be posting results when I send BlackStone my oil sample for a Used Oil Analysis.

When I was a manager at Advance Auto Parts, we got bored and decided to do an oil filter comparo. We decided to use an oil filter from each brand that was for your standard Chevy 350. We used K&N, Purolator, Fram, Mobil 1, and Wix. We took a hacksaw and cut each one lengthways. You could immediately see that the k&n, mobil1, and fram only had about 2/3 the filtering material that the two "cheap" filters had. The same filters had a center section that was supported by a cardboard spacer of sorts, while the purolator, and wix had a metal one. I have heard plenty of weekend racers tell me about a k&n failure, so I have never used one. The only filters I will use are Purolator, and or Wix.

There have been 1 Trillion discussions about this, the end conclusion was that the best combo is amsoil oil and the older OEM filter. Why? Because the original OEM filter cleans well AND flows the best.

I've posted this before, but will again: I cut open an OE mitsu Evo filter and it is of extremely cheap construction inside- like a Fram. I'm sure that it's good enough, and won't cause any problems, but even a $3 purolator is of much better construction IMO.

Just bought my car... previous owner used M1/M1 filter, I am not switching to Amsoil/Amsoil filter due to excellent experience with 10k drain intervals on previous vehicles.
