Who needs the A/C?
Who needs the A/C?
Ok fellas...New to the board (and there are a lot of forums), I did a quick search to see if I could find a thread discussing removing the A/C?
Does anyone have this process documented?
Thanks!

So do I, but at this point I don't have a radio, carpet, back seats or windows so the A/C is luxury that I guess I can do without.
So if anyone knows of thread that discusses whether or not I need a different belt, if there's a pulley to replace the A/C, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah,
Steps:
1) Order the A/C delete belt from stikiller.com
2) Take your car to a shop to have the refridgerant drained PROPERLY
3) Unbolt and remove A/C lines from engine bay
4) I believe you have to remove your front bumper AND/OR your radiator to get at the condensor
5) Unbolt and have a helluva a time removing your condensor
6) Unbolt and remove your A/C pump (you may have to unbolt one of your downpipe bolts in order to remove the last bolt on the bracket the holds the pump to the block, that bracket is a heavy son of an ish)
7) Remove the old serpentine belt and replace with the A/C delete belt
8) Get in your car after it has been sitting in the sun all day
9) Regret removing your A/C
10) Write these steps for the next schmuck that wants to get rid of his A/C, all while still regretting the removal of yours

Thanks for the 10 step program to removing the A/C - I will do my best to short cut this and at a minimum TRY to skip step #9.
I will let you know the weight once I get it removed - should be soon though - assuming my manual comes in the mail.

My Evo is the first vehicle I've owned that had working A/C I'm so used to not using it that I've considered taking it out. The only time I turn it on is when I have someone else in the car, which is not often cause I obsessed with the thing. I sleep next to it in the garage every night. Sometimes we stay up late and talk about how we are gonna take down some big V8's someday and laugh maniacally about it.

Ya so if you happened to see my other post for a weird noise coming from the serpentine belt. well turns out the AC bracket broke. Anyways long story short I am with the few that may be removing the AC all together and trashing it. never used in the 2 yrs I have had my car either. So save some weight and gain a few HP.
