Just did a compression check after replacing my spark plugs........... all 4 cylinder came out to 180 psi. I was wondering isn't this too high for a Evo 9?

 

What were your other 3? As long as they are all close, you are good.

 

I had 185's across the board in my stock engine.

 

They were all 180 psi


Yeah but you have a Evo 8.....which I thought had higher compression but I could be wrong.

 

As far as I know, they have the same compression.

 

VIII and IX=Same compression.

180 across the board=Healthy engine

 

180=Real healthy engine

Incorrect, look at a service manual for both sometime.

Evo 9 is 145psi standard, 92 lower limit with no more than 14 psi difference between cylinders

Evo 8 is 163psi standard, 138 lower limit with no more than 14 psi difference between cylinders

OP: Was this compression test done on a cold or warm motor?

 

The engine was hot and has about 23k miles on her.

 

I'm around 170 on all 4.
