take some of the tension off the adjustment screw... and then its only suppose to open under higher boost levels, 14 psi or more id say... anything less than that, you dont want it to open because you will have issues. When i had my APS... for it to be loud i had it set to almost 3/4 of the way out. Worked like a champ.

I personally have never seen anything from GFB be worth a damn. I have seen at least a dozen leak from the upper diaphram area when doing boost leak tests.
APS hands down. Or try a Forge, they sound pretty good.

hows it? I'm new to all this so I've been trying to study up as much as possible. I recently bought a 06 mr which came with a couple of mods. One of them being the GFB bov. Mine is not one of the "adjust by a dial" in the cabin valves. It has manual adjust. The problem is that I don't know how to adjust it. I've read that too much blow off to atm will affect the car's performance. right now I can hear it almost every time I shift. I was thinking about going back to the stock diverter valve. If I can adjust this thing then why waste the money?

Long story long. can you tell me which way is which on this valve. i.e. lefty loosy, righty tighty?

My buddy has the APS and it isn't any louder than my stock. My stock MR JDM got a lot louder when I changed the intake and UICP. Good luck getting the "ricey" noise you are looking for without driveability issues. I just think the APS isn't going to do it. Don't get me wrong, its a great bov, its just not that loud.

ex STi owner here :X i had compressor surge with the GFB 50/50 when I had my GT30R on it. Prior to the new turbo it did work fine tho. I'd suggest trying the APS

My stock valve is noticeably louder than my APS, even with an open element filter. If someone says their APS (twinvent anyways) is loud than they have it installed backwards or incorrectly some other way. It is pretty loud backwards.
