Walbro 255 and fuel filter

Is there a internal filter in the walbro like the stock fuel pump?

From what i've read you have to change the whole fuel pump to change the filter with the stock one. So is it the same with the walbro.

The part on the bottom of the pump is not a "filter", it is referred to as a sock. Yes, it has some filtering capability but is not the actual filter. The filter on the EVO is built into the fuel pump assembly and cannot be replaced, the entire fuel pump assembly has to be replaced to change the filter. I am referring to the entire big white part in the tank the fuel pump is in.

David,

Where is the filter in the assembly? Or are you talking about the small little filter on the other side of the saddle?

He is saying that the filter is actually inside the play that this diagram has circled as "fuel pump or fuel module." That whole unit is white in color and plastic.. He is saying you would have to get an entire assembly (white plastic) to replace the actual filter.. It is supposedly inside of the unit itself..

Where is the filter in the white plastic "module"? Inside the upper part where the 3 nipples are? Everything below that top is solid plastic shielding and the side nipples.

That's what I thought too... but Dave's post was implying that it is inside there.. and in order to replace it.. you have to replace the whole module? i dk .. lol.. I was just trying to explain to you what he said hehe..

FYI that fuel assembly module is #MR571545 and about $110

The "filter" on the other side of the tank (what I have circled in that diagram as fuel filter) is #MB129895 and about $5

Yeah... It just makes no sense that the fuel filter would be in something that costs so much... but then I guess. I don't know how often you are supposed to replace the fuel filter.. I don't think it is like a oil filter, where you should replace it every 3k.. But then again.. Mitsubishi loves to have your money lol.

In that diagram.. the fuel filter is obviously not even apart of the module, but according to dave.. it is supposed to be inside of the module. (at least from my understanding).

Just checked the service manual, it is called "Fuel Filter Assembly"

Now I am really curious, I'm looking at that thing more closely next time I install a fuel pump.

Part #MB129895 is coming up as the sock that covers the pickup. Anyone have the filter part #. http://www.lancershop.com/customer/p...6&cat=11&page=
