Anyone have their accessory belt pop off?!!

I was at a stop light ready to pull forward and i heard a loud noise under the hood and then some squeeking. I immediatly pull over and the belt driving the alt and PS fell off!!

My first evo issue :sigh:

Anyone know where the tensioner is located (hopefully it's still there...)

Belts definitely do not pop off by themselves. The tensioner is a little funny to get to and is easier to reach from under.

You have an 03. It has probably been wrenched on by more than one incompetent mechanic, one of which who probably over torqued the bolt causing it to crack. Mystery solved.

Yup happened to another guy, went to a dodgy mechanic shop and a trigger happy trainee used a compressor impact wrench with the same torque setting to do pretty much everything, from removing valve cover to tightening wheel nuts, now everytime he goes to change anything, at least one of the bolts is stripped or breaks off etc.

damn, I go to a trigger happy mechanic... he makes me happy tightening everything up. I guess I should warn him not to over do it...
