10.72 @ 129 Red Turbo
I just checked some logs from Trent's car on the dyno.
The only change from these logs is the car went from our header turbo kit with a GT35r to the red on the stock ported manifold and SS 02 housing.
The GT35r reached 20 psi at 4895 rpm and 29 psi at 5395 rpm.
The Red reached 20 psi at 3656 rpm and 27 psi at 4387 rpm.
Both pulls were on 93 octane, same boost controller, same gear (4th) on the dyno.

Impressive
Screw this pumpgas talk though. I could care less what this type of turbo does with two bum knees (stock ECU and head) and hurt back (stock block). This turbo is a racegas turbo, plain and simple. Anybody looking for something that's not "all out" at this level should just stick to a green.
Any track numbers on racegas, doing it the way you guys do it?

03whitegsr, I think Trent mentioned he was going to have DB retune it and then go with the race gas.
...and that's what was said about the Garrett turbos before people like David started tuning them to 30psi plus on pump gas.
Remember things like that before absolute opinions start getting thrown around... also kinda like when people said you could not make power on the OE ECU. Now they can go WAY up there. Esp when ditching the OE MAFs. Oh, wait, people have made power on those too. Granted not nearly as much.
I personally think the Red is going to be the Holy Grail turbo for the masses... the best of both worlds for those who want to taste the best on, and off the street. Of corse die hard people from any particular camp will want to choose differently. AutoX people will still want to stay with OE or the green perhaps. Drag racers will still want to look at the Red or full on turbo kits. However, for the guy that wants to "have it all", or at least his slice out of the middle of it, the Red will probably be "where it's at".

Good luck and get'er done.
Agreed, I was one of the guys who said big turbos were for race gas only and now I don't agree at all. We are knocking out 500+ whp, 93 octane builds constantly, it's very easy to do.
The green was my favorite before, I guess since I have not personally driven a Red yet on the street/track it still is. I love the green. BUT, the green never made over 400 on straight pump gas that I can remember on our dyno. Trent's Red did.
I believe the Red is going to be the most popular turbo over time.

I just figure if you are going to drop $10k-$15k on a 500 HP build, what's another $5 a gallon when you really want to go fast? It's like cheap insurance.
Keep in mind guys, I ran a T67 on pumpgas (91 octane), stock block, and DSMLink almost 5 years ago in my 2G. I'm well aware of big turbo and pumpgas power. I was scared S**TLESS every time I pulled up to the pump though because my local area was always getting crappy gas.
When you start driving 10 miles out of your way just to go to one particular station because it's about the most consistent gas you can find (and you know because you have tried EVERY station in the area numerous times), it gets a little old.

03, That's my attitude too. We don't drive the car like a true daily driver, but we do drive it on the weekends looking for another place to plant a tombstone. Anyway, with the few miles that we drive, why not just use the best fuel and get the most out of our parts. There's a place for both fuels, but in the end, if we run up against another RED, side by side, he better be using the same fuel, or we plant another tombstone. Tony took the car out a while ago for the first time. Some guys in a Honda said it sounded really good, "Does it have a turbo on it or something?". Tony "yeah".
Funny, EVERYONE has vaild points... however, it's pretty much indisputable that the grand majority of Evo owners use their cars daily. That withstanding, I still believe this is the hot ticket for those owners too. As I chuckle to myself, I want to rename it "everyone's turbo" if my "speculations" hold true.

I just don't need that much power and am not willing to lose the spool due to the racing I do, but if I didn't have those needs, the Red would be the ticket for sure.

I've bounced around what I would want based on all the data for the last few days. Simply leveling the playing field has made the picture very clear. You want to talk about "power under the curve" this new RED is looking pretty damn good.
