Just rebuilt my evo 8 trans, replaced all syncros and switched to upgraded input shaft(04-05 8 models). I had a friend mention to swith to an evo 9 1st gear since the transmission was out and i knew that shepherd does the same thing. Anyways swapped it in and when put back together, i was told the gear was to small in diameter and the teeth werent grabbing so it wouldnt fully engage. What has to be done to make this swap work? or is anyone familiar with how shepherd does it? or do i need to use an evo 9 input shaft?
