plug blew out

Machine shop can fix it, but the Head has to come off. You'll need to flush as much off the particles out off the combustion chamber and around bearings before re-assembled.

Edit: Keyserts would be a better option.

The difference between Heli-coils and Keenserts/Keyserts, is the ability to rotate an insert. Keyserts are designed with four KEY features to prevent this from happening and are preferred in Aerospace, Naval and any other application that requires a far superior insert. Specifically designed for Aluminum application and since the head has to come off, why settle for less.

same thing happened to me... blew plug busted spark cover and destroyed last couple of threads in head. so i tapped and now good to go no issues what -so -ever!

because if you don't take it off you'll be getting a lot of metal shavings inside the cylinder. kinda bad for your engine
