plug blew out

plug blew out

has anybody had a spark plug blow out?? what would cause this other than not being tight. i had one blow out and i put it back in and was fine. what would cause this?????

high boost and not torquing the spark plug tight enough.

running stock boost. i guess i didnt get it tight enough. i didnt want to go too tight. anybody know what the torq spec is???

I know it's nothing crazy. I think it's like 23 ft-lbs. Don't quote me on it though.

thanks guys. scarred the crap out of me. i was on the highway. it demolished my plug cover. time to upgrade to a billit or carbon

You can extract a plug. You are going to have shavings inside though, good luck cleaning.

How is it stripped? Crossthreaded or wrenched?

no my old plug blew out of the head i got it back in there but i had to get new wires so i got new plugs and no dice.

Do you have a pic of it? If the plug blew out, youre saying it blew the insert/threads also?

It's going to require you to remove the head if you want to do it right, if not it CAN be done with the head still on though I wouldn't advise it.
