few questions from a newb

I just recently picked up my evo and it had a few mods done
to it from previous owner. first thing I did was a compression test.

I tested it cold and each cylinder was 151 across is this about right?
Its an 2004 evo 8. From past experience I should be around 160 or
so warm right?

My other question is I dont think the car has a walbro fp
and it has 850cc inj which look to be fic. I know on dsm's
you benefit from rewiring the fuel pump directly to the battery
to give it a more stable voltage, does this need to be done on
evo's as well? and can the stock FPR handle a walbro 255?

Also should I have no problem seeing around 385-400whp on a
mustang dyno with these mods with an ecu flash or what
do you guys recommend I use to tune? i used to use dsmlink
for my dsm's.

greddy t67 / 25G
hks 272
perrin fmic
forge bov
custom manifold/dp
tial wg
850 inj
rsr exhaust

Im also thinking about installing a meth inj kit
since ive had that on all my prior dsm's with
great success.

Oh , man. Those are tough questions for me. You must not really be a newbie even though you are one in the forum....if you know what I mean.

Your compression doesnt look bad, you dont need to rewire the fuel pump just put it in. The stock FPR can handle the walbro, when it comes to tuning I would stick with ecuflash, if you're going for more I'd say go with AEM EMS. 380awhp seems doable. And you can go meth if you think 380's not enuff.

Your compression looks fine. You will need a Walbro 255 soon. ($80ish) The stock FPR is fine with the Walbro and I wouldn't bother re-wiring it, you probably wouldn't notice a difference. You should definitely be able to make around those numbers, and even more with methanol. Car is looking good man, good luck!

I would just convert to E85. Since we live close to E85 nirvana you could swap in some 1200cc injectors plus a double pump hanger and make 500+ any day. You should come to cecil county on wednesday a whole bunch of us are meeting at Lanc Mitsu/Kia Service at 4pm.

Also on thursday nights we meet at Sonic on RT30 by Dutch Wonderland so you should come by and show off the EVO.

I also got one now, an 03 RR GSR with no sunroof.

Later

No need for such a big tubo to get those numbers - you can get those numbers on the stock turbo with stock spool. If you do a turbo upgrade, please consider one of the top turbos on the market for the Evo.

Thanks for the good information. I will buy a walbro 255 for now and maybe later down the road go the e85 route.

Thanks for the feedback guys I just noticed if I quote everyone that replied it would just fill up the thread with a bunch of quotes.. Im gonna get the walbro 255 then go from there. ultimately id like to go with a quicker spooling turbo but for now this one will have to do.

For now ill go for the ecuflash and probably install a meth kit and run -20 washer fluid which if I can remember is 50/50 meth/water minus the odd percentages that are lubricant/blue dye.

No, just run 100% meth - no washer fluid or mixtures - and go for around 500whp all on EcuFlash.

Im in the same boat as the OP of this thread. I know DSM's, but not much about these evos and I just picked up an 05 evo 8 from a local on this fourm. Have been reading the past few days but would like quick answers. Not trying to Hi-Jack threads here but... I have the wally 255 and other bolt ons, I want to go with a 1000cc injector or bigger because I plan on a 35r soon. Would the stock fuel rail be fine or should i replace that along with the lines? and would I still not need a FPR with that big of an injector?

Evoscan or Mitsulogger - uses the same cable as EcuFlash.

The stock fuel rail should hold up. Some people upgrade them for better flow but I dont believe its absolutely necessary for 1000's. It should go without saying but do not install the injectors before the turbo etc. FPR should work fine with those injectors and setup as well.
