Exedy Triple Plate clutch discs strip out....AGAIN!!!
This is the second time that I've had this happen. the first time I was the installer BUT I did it by the book and have installed sever clutches in several evos without a problem,
THIS time it was professionally installed. BUT when I was taking the transmission bolts out I noticed that some of them were not tight at all. they could even be turned by hand. Do you think the transmission could become slanted when the car accelerates and eat the clutch disc grooves away??? since those bolts were very loose that kinda makes sense to me (two of the bottom transmission bolts were very loose). here are some pics.

if your talking about the pressure plate bolts then yeah I'd hope that the place I took it to tightened them in the correct "cross" pattern. I know I did when I installed it the first time and it ****ed up.
It just seems like the loose bolts in the bell housing could've maybe allowed the tranny to move a bit which would bind that input shaft in weird ways and maybe eat away at the clutch discs.....
anyone else have any suggestions???
I would be suprised if those loose bolts did anything. As long as the trasmission stayed together it shouldn't have affected the clutch. Plus you said it's happened before. Part failure?
the quartermaster is a great clutch but first i think you should figure out what the problem is with this clutch, i would hate to see you throw in a new one and have the same thing happen.

I talked to the installer of the clutch and he said that he didnt think that the lower tranny bolts being loose would've caused this because it is still held in place by several other bolts.

I think the loose tranny bolt causing misalignment of the tranny is a good hypothesis. I have heard that if the shaft is not perfectly aligned it can mess up the teeth and even the TOB clip.
Do you still have the washer bolt on this part? This aligns the tranny to the block. You should have two of these front/rear side. As you can see in the pic Im missing one...We just found out when we pulled out the tranny. Now I have both. Thanks to Barry!

yes I had both of my dowel pins in. The dowel pins keep the input shaft perfectly alligned with the crank

I've seen this before!!
This is a clutch slave cylinder overstroking issue. The stroke of the slave cylinder was not adjusted properly after the install. I had this issue with a Tilton unit in the past.
