Running Meth? Safe or Not

Hey guys i have an 03 Evo 8 with 65k miles.. I am doing Megan 02housing and Megan TBE, HKS Super Intake, AMS Intercooler with licp and uicp. evo ix BOV. Is it smart to run meth. i heard it makes huge power but what about safety and reliability. Could i run meth on a stock 8 turbo or would i need a 9 Turbo. You guys have any suggestions.

While Meth injection is safe with a good system, I do not like it. My friend blew his motor running meth. The injector got clogged or did something... ??? I'd feel much better about running C16. Do some research and check the pro's and cons of meth. If you feel the gain is worth it, then do it. Most systems have failsafes, but there's always a risk of something happening.

I personally don't trust meth injection, at least on a DD. But there are a lot of guys who have never had a problem. Unfortunely if you do have a problem there is a chance your engine is toast. It just seems to me the reward does not justify the risk.

The possibility of your engine blowing up is always there regardless if you use meth or not. If you get a good tune and put your rev limiter at 7500 rpm you shouldn't have any problems. I would also recommend the map switching for your failsafe!

If the injection kit is high quality, it will have some failsafes that should prevent a catastrophic failure. What I do not like about meth is its tendency to wash down the cylinder walls. The use of meth removes the film of oil from the walls of the combustion chamber which over time results in premature wear (oval cylinders). Some say that this doesn't happen, but I've seen enough proof to decide otherwise...

go meth
once you have it you will wonder why you never got it before

failsafes will help protect everything, but still not a 100% guarantee

anything can go wrong at anytime, if you want meth, you want it. if your scared of every little thing that can go wrong then your not gonna get it. many people run it with no problems and big power gains. anytime you mod a car anything can go wrong at anytime.... the key is to have it set-up properly with a good tune and maintain it well

meth works more as a octane booster
alky is more for cooling temps down, but still boost octane a little

im using 100% meth and feel very very comfortable with it. I am using the AEM kit and when English Racing installed the kit he always puts a couple fail safes on the system. One thing I might suggest and its only what ive heard and been doing since meth is to be sure you get your oil changed regularly. I know some synthetics can run upwards of 5-7k miles. i do mine every 3k.

I notice your in TX, do you guys have ****ty gas like we do in AZ too? Itll really help with that if you do. Just be sure to get a good tune.

If you use meth as a suplimentary power adder, you will never blow up your engine. Even if your run out of meth, or you get a clogged injector, you still will be on your normal tune. Therefore.... meth is very safe. Its only dangerous when people rely on it, and then do something dumb like forget to fill up their tank. Getting a clogged injector is dumb, that could happen to one of your four fuel injectors too, but people never say "I don't like running fuel injection, what if you get a clogged injector".

Meth is safe, and a great power adder.

I have an Aquamist HFS-1 (not those cheap meth kits you get for $300.00) I got it tuned and installed by KevinD, and its been working like a champ for the past 4 months. I've been through about eight 4 Qt tanks already and its still going strong. I've never had a problem.

There are factors to consider:

1) Was the kit installed properly?
2) Was the car tuned properly to the correct settings via boost and meth/alky injection?
3) Are you keeping regular maintenence with the rest of the car to upkeep the meth injection? (A lot of people overlook this one.)

The thing is that any car, not just an Evo, will run PERFECT..... only if the proper precautions, maintenence and installation when putting in a meth kit.

I have no problems with my meth kit... except one and thats getting meth. I seem to use so much its ridiculous. But that extra 100hp/80tq isn't a joke. LOL.

I got rid of mine because meth was hard to get in my area. Thats the only thing I can nitpick about it.
