Unhappy Rubbing Noise When Taking Off

So lately i've been noticing a rubbing noise everytime i take off from a stop. I only seems to make a sound when i take off slowly, but if i launch because i'm racing, there is no noise. Sounds like its coming from the drivetrain so thats no good. It's a 03' Evo GSR by the way. Thanks for the help!

Can you describe the sound a little better? Could be the brakes dragging... When my rears were done I slacked instead of changing them right away so i was getting a sound everytime from a stop.

Cheers!

sorry its just kind of hard to describe. It's like there's something rubbing under me that's not suppose to be. It's somewhat loud. It's like.... Errrrrrrrrrr Sorry i dont know how to really describe it. I'll try to get some audio later.

WHAT WOULD IT TAKE TO SERVICE MY TC? IF I CATCH IT EARLY DO I STILL HAVE TO REPLACE IT?

NO NEW PARTS, BUT THE GUY I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM HAD BIGGER TIRES IN THE FRONT THEN BACK (SAME HEIGHT/DIFFERENT WITH/ DIFFERENT BRAND). COULD THAT CAUSE A HUGE PROBLEM. IT'S SLOWLY BEEN HAPPENING.

I LIKE TO DRAG RACE EVERY OTHER SATURDAY, IF THAT HELPS AT ALL.

On our AWD cars, we must have the same size/model/tread depth on all four tires or it will make the differentials wear out prematurely. Sounds like that is your problem...

ya know what...I JUST had this noise happen to me! I thought it was my T-case because I just had one put in and it was coming from the pass front. It ONLY would happen when I would accelerate or decelerate slowly. BUT it wasn't like a metal rubbing noise.

So I took off the pass front wheel, what it ended up being was a part of the wheel well liner that attaches to the undercarriage liner. All those little fasteners that go through the plastic, someone just forgot to put one in and every now and then itll rub up against the tire. No biggie at all. You might wanna check that out, see if any of those are missing.

Don't know for sure, but you need to get the tire situation sorted out soon.

THANKS ILL CHECK THAT.

YA, IM WORKING ON THE TIRE SITUATION. THE GUY I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM WAS KIND OF "GETTO" DONT KNOW HOW HE GOT AN EVO. HE THOUGHT IT WAS A FWD, THAT'S PROBABLY WHY THE TIRES WERE LIKE THAT. ITS TAKING A LOT OF WORK (AND MONEY) CLEANING IT UP THOUGH. BUT IT THE BEST CAR I'VE EVER DRIVEN!!!

^^^ lay off the caps lock

the TC is not a rubbing sound, its a high pitched whine that gets louder as you go faster.

have you actually looked under your car to see if you can see anything that is amiss?
