the bolt or the ball joint?

try lifting the control arm with a jack (place the jack right under the ball joint) in order to compress the suspension and then try to knock it out with a hammer

im assuming you sprayed it with pb blaster?

if that still doesnt work heat it up with a torch being carefull not to burn the rubber on the ball joint and then try to knock it out

dont heat it. You will need to use a heavy hammer and hit it right at the point of the bolt (the side the nuts screws on to) Also try using a floor jack to press up on the control arm as the swaybar and struts will be putting pressure down on that bolt

you don't need to remove that bolt to do a clutch job, I just take the bottom strut bolts off, there is enough leverage to move the axle away and slip the trans out.

^^^^ What he said. You dont need to remove the any of the suspension componets. Youll have to push down slightly on the controll arm, pull the upright toward youto get the axel out. But it will come out on both sides no problem.

You should also rent, or buy a slide hammer the get the axel output shafts out of the tranny, makes life a lot easier. Just FYI

That bolt you are trying to remove could be a pain because the ball joint is slotted on one side and if not turned to the right angle will stop the bolt from coming out or going back in for that matter. Try spinning the the joint and it'll come out at the right angle and please stop the hammer fest.

+1 The shafts will only come out at a certain angle, but they will come out without removing the control arm. For the slide hammer, just buy a cheap one, have the correct size bolt welded to a nut that fits on the slide hammer. Works like a champ.
