Electric vs Mechanical boost gauges...whats the difference??
Electric vs Mechanical boost gauges...whats the difference??
I'm in the market to get some gauges. A boost gauge is on the top of my list...to be followed by others later. I noticed the a mechanical gauge costs anywhere from 40-100 bucks and the electric ones are 150-250 bucks. Are the electric ones smoother, easier to install etc. What are the pros and cons. Please help. I think Ill go with Autometer if I choose mechanical and Defi if I choose electric. Im on a pretty tight budget though. Please help...
Some Electronic gauges offer you the ability to set a warning and check the peak value. They react a bit faster and can be more accurate. That's about it. They are a little easier to install because you don't need to run a boost line into the cabin, just a small electric cable.
in my experiences i have had better luck with the electronic because in my eclipse i had a mechanical and there was a small bend in the line and it caused the gauge to read 2lbs short of what i was really running.

From all these years I have been told and beleave that the mechanical gauges are more accurate. Kinda like the Thermostat
the mechanical one is allways more acurate then the digital reading ones...Like the watches analog watch is allway more acrurate then the digital..
