How to install gauges?

I have auto meter gauges: electric oil pressure gauge, a/f gauge, and boost/vacuum gauge....
What's the best way to install? Where do I tap into for power?

Thanks in advance.

Just take a tap from a fuse in the fuse box
Bussman makes some nice adapters to get a fused tap
Ditch the afr for a wideband
Get a water temp too
For the oil pressure, get an adapter from the the oil filter housing.
Boost take a tap from the BOV line by the intake manifold
As for mounting, u have to decide where u want it

Is it a good idea to tap into the BOV for a boost source? Or better to go directly to the Intake Manifold?

Above info is right. Follow the bov vacuum line to the intake manifold that rolls right off the valve cover. Ignition fuse under the steering wheel is what I used to power and the ground would be to your left of the fuse box.

I tapped into the fpr line for the boost gauge and I know a ton of other ppl that have as well. When it was tapped off my bov line I had fluttering with the bov. You can go to any auto parts store and get a mini "add a fuse" to tap power off the fuse box. Plus if you ever want to remove it then you haven't went and cut up a bunch of wires for power. Plug n play power with removal option. Beware though if you use the oil filter adapter to tap for oil pressure and your car is lowered at all you run the risk of hitting a pot hole and ripping the whole oil filter housing apart. Happened to a friend of mine. There are actually hex plugs already in the filter housing you can remove to tap for oil gauges. And It doesnt make the filter another 1.5" closer to the ground. Good luck.

im in the middle of installing an aem failsafe (which i intend to use the wideband, boost and rpm feature), an aem analog boost, and an aem analog fuel pressure.

On all 3
-switched power and ground from the cigarette lighter (its capable of 15 amps and i never use it)
-constant power from the radio (red/black wire)
-Illum signal from radio (black/yellow).

On the failsafe
-wideband sensor through the floor (left side passenger side, under the carpet).

(all other firewall penetrations made through passenger side hole in firewall for all gauges)

-boost from the nipple on the left side of the intake (not sure what his was originally tapped to, i bought the car with a boost gauge already tapped to this position)
-tach signal from pin 45 on the ecu

On the analog boost gauge
-boost sensor screwed directly into a vacuum block that is tapped directly to the intake

on the analog fuel pressure
-sensor screwed directly into the fuel rail.

If none of this stuff works... ill come back and post feedback.
I do know already that both analog gauges sensor wires arent long enough to reach back to the gauge so i will have to lengthen them.

I mounted my Oil Pressure/Boost/Air Fuel using a radio relocation kit where the radio comes stock and moved the radio down where the cubby hole at the bottom of the console.

just a tip but never tap your gauges into the ignition wire. i used the radio power wire so if anything ever happened i can still get home.

ok.. so an update from my install.

Everything went well...
for the firewall penetration, i took out the grommet, flipped it inside out and cut off the thick part out of the middle. Made for almost a perfect hole.
Then i cut s slit in it so i could slip it over the 2 wires and one vacuum hose.
i was able to push it right in the hole around the hose and wire... fit perfect and tight.

did the same thing for the o2 sensor going through the floor.

I used permatex thread sealer for the fuel rail sensor and it doesnt leak.

everything worked perfect right from the get go.

Only thing i found out is that the failsafe boost only will register up to 28lbs.
it just stops at 28 for anything above that level but this really has nothing to do with the install... just the gauge.

hope this helps.
